Week 3 run 3 at the very chilly parkrun

Ran my final run of week 3 successfully at the parkrun today. I had to go to a different parkrun because my regular one was icy but it was a beautiful day - cold and sunny. I set off with my 5 minutes of walking and watched everyone else disappear over the horizon - sigh - I never caught up with any of them again! This parkrun was 3 laps which meant that I got lapped by the speedy runners. This was actually quite enjoyable as it was exciting to see some people really running fast and I'd never seen them before from my end of the parkrun. I also felt that I was still in a run with lots of other people so it seemed more companionable and it was very obvious which way to go. Some of the people whizzing past also said "well done" to me which was so kind and encouraging of them. As I got to the third lap (having finished my running following Laura's directions) there was no-one else around and I had a beautiful walk (on my own, it seemed) through the park and around the lake, occasionally going past a cheerful marshal. It was really lovely. So I got my slowest ever parkrun time which doesn't matter at all but confirms what I suspected - my running is probably slower than my walking!

Speed is all relative, who cares how fast you walk, jog or run? It's all about enjoying it and being healthy!

Well done 😊

You are right. In some ways I would quite like NOT to get a parkrun time. The main thing is that I am getting the exercise... and actually I am getting a lot more benefit from it than the speedy runners who are only getting 20 minutes worth! :)

You do you! Running is for you and no one else. And it is great that you run for longer!
