Found that one tough (x2 10 min runs). 5 hours later my legs still feel sore and heavy.
W6d2 - what just happened...: Found that one... - Couch to 5K
W6d2 - what just happened...
Congratulations w6r2 done. Yep you’re legs are just going to feel it the more you run. It’s a good ache though means that you are using muscles you probably didn’t know you had !! 😁
Great you've now completed wk6r2. Maybe you need to slow down even more. Make sure you're keeping well hydrated even though it's winter.
Lots of walking helps. Well done you 😊
Standard. Lots of people are caught out by W6 runs 1 and 2 so don’t worry about it. They are comparable to week 5 run 3 in terms of amount of running but the fact that there are walk breaks makes people think they’re easier and maybe go off too fast. What it shows is the walk breaks have served their purpose and you don’t need them any more. You’re better just getting through the toxic ten and moving on rather than cooling down after ten minutes and having to start again. Now that you know that, the programme won’t trouble you with walk breaks again and you won’t miss them. Well done on reaching this stage.
Wow, I love this response! Makes absolute sense. Will bear in mind for week 6 nest week 👍🏼
I remember I found the first two runs of week 6 hard but I got through them because I’d been told what to expect by others on here, so I’m happy to pay it forward. Treat them as seriously as you did W5R3 and you’ll be OK.
Arthur, now that is a very clever response! Definitely see that, whereby the continuous 20 minutes was surprisingly uneventful this one with the walking break was much tougher. Really appreciate that response. Will help me to take on the next run as I was thinking I wouldn’t be able to do it, so massive thank you!
Week 6 catches a lot of people out but now that ones done you have nice longer runs you can settle in to
Have fun running
The phrase “ nice longer runs” just made me giggle nervously...
Don’t be nervous you are well prepared, we didn’t actually start enjoying running until we graduated but i did start to enjoy running without stop start and now on longer runs we sometimes do a few steps of walking somewhere in the middle and it’s fine because the achievement is being out there running
Thank you for that. I would love to get to a point when I enjoy running so your post has given me a little encouragement!!
Roll on spring, running in warmer dry weather is just lovely
Have to say, so far I’m liking the cold weather - keeps me cooler. When I come indoors then my face goes 🥵🥵!
Yeah that happens to us all, did anyone suggest a hot bath and couple of pain pills or a massage to ease those muscles? and of course slow down and drink plenty of water so they are well hydrated
Believe me one day it will be fun, at the moment you are learning how to run and all learning is hard
Your legs will continue to grow stronger! And you'll soon not feel it as much.
Stretch and stay hydrated.
Well done you. 👏
Aches good, pain bad. Just give yourself time to recover and repair. Sounds like you're doing great 👍
