Graduation. Meh

I completed Couch to running for 30 minutes this morning. I started running to try and help my mental health and every single run has been hard but I have stuck with it with the help of my music. Without music there is no way I could run. I have low days and unfortunately today was one of them so I don’t really have good feelings about it. I need to carry on as I feel a bit fitter and hopefully one day I can feel better about it.

👏👍✅🔔🎈🥳Congratulations!!!!!

In spite of your feelings you have done amazingly well. Keep on keeping on especially as you feel fitter. Hopefully in retrospect you will realise what an amazing achievement this is.

Well done👍🤗

When you're feeling a little better please make sure you congratulate yourself on your massive achievement. It is huge (just look back at 9 weeks ago) especially if you have not enjoyed your runs 😥 I hope that you will keep running and come to enjoy it when you haven't got the 'pressure' of the C25K programme. If you feel negative at any point you will find plenty of support here x

First off, well done on graduating. That is a massive achievement.

From my own experience, as someone who has battled depression for 30+ years, since my own graduation back in May, I have found that running has helped my mood a lot. I'm still on medication, and probably always will be, but the running seems to compliment it and achieve more than the medication alone.

It wasn't an immediate thing, but once the structure of the plan was behind me and I was "running free", I was able to relax and just go with the flow; the times and distances were just whatever I felt like and that really made a difference.

Running has become a sort of meditative space; it's my time where I just zone out and let my feet carry me and I've found it to be a great way to get rid of any post-work frustrations.

It doesn't do it for everyone, and it may not do it for you, but it does seem to help me. Either way, I hope you get some respite your mood; this time of year is often more difficult.

Thank you. This is so helpful. The medication can only do so much can’t it? Running free sounds lovely!

Congratulations and well done. I am in awe of the adversity that some people here run through. Hopefully, one day very soon you will appreciate your achievement and begin to feel the benefit.

Good luck on your journey 👍

Congratulations on completing the C25K programme! 🎊 🥂 🥉 🎓 🏃 🏆 🎉 🎈 I think it's quite common to feel a bit of an anti climax when you cross that finish line but really it's just the beginning of your running adventures. ☺

You got through it, both today and all the rest. I found completion a major anti-climax however running helps me far more than any medication has both for anxiety and depression. I really never believed before that exercise helps but it really does. Hang in there 👍🏻😉
