Has anyone cut any foods out since starting running, if so what do you miss the most?

I cut out most of my bread intake, if I do eat any bread then it's a low calorie one or WW wraps. I also cut out just about all my carb intake for a while too.

I've been a little naughty with the chocolate as of late but I'm going to bin that for a while too, it'll be hard as the kids always buy me a Toblerone for Christmas.

What do I miss the most? I did miss chocolate the most but, as above, I've just had a little top up but mashed potatoes would be next on the list.

Why are you cutting so much out?

I used to have a croissant mid morning which I miss, plus a biscuit or two in the evening.

Quite simple really, when I started C25K this time around, May this year, I was over 26 stone, the mixture of cutting carbs and the running plus the odd bit of swimming, etc, has gotten me down to 21.5 stone.

Cutting the carbs makes your body use what is available to it for fuel, rather like the Keto diet does.

Basically, all I did was cut out a load of carbs I didn't need, change to eating 5-6 times a day and reduce the size of the portions I was eating.

That's brilliant well done on losing so much weight.

You have a good reason to do this then.

I have cut right down on alcohol. Not completely - it is nearly Christmas! Just when we go out I offer to drive now. It has definitely made a difference to how I feel - both when I'm running and when I'm not. Week 8 run 1 done. Run 2 after dogwalk. Looking forward to it and I never thought I'd say that.

A wee tipple every so often is OK, I dont drink much either and I dont miss it.

🥓 and 🍳 🥪

😂 I don’t miss them at all though.

Also, alcohol. The dehydrating affects hinder my exercise a lot. I don’t miss it at all 👌🏻

in reply to

Well you had an experience with a lot didn't you 😂

😂 I was chatting with a friend about alcohol and she said ‘I can’t handle Tia Maria anymore after drinking too much last Christmas and it making me feel rough’. I said about my mistake of eating the 🍳 and 🥓 sandwich before a run. With the straightest face, she replied ‘You’ve changed’. 😂🤣

in reply to

Changed from what exactly? 🧐😉

in reply to

Not sure 🤔 I’ve never liked Tia Maria, so it can’t be that 😂

True.. 😂

he he ..funny question but when I think about it I was beginning to develop a bad habit of going to the chip shop and having a a small fish and chips with mushy peas. I've knocked it on the head. But I still pine a bit when I go by.

Not every day?

I only drink hot water now - don't miss the green tea and never drank coffee

in reply to lexiemcd

Does it do you good?

Before I started running I had put on lots of weight since stopping smoking and ended up with a chocolate addiction instead .

It's now nearly 14 months since I started c25k ive lost over three and a half stone so back to what I should be.

At the beginning I wouldn't touch chocolate at all but now if I want some I buy 1 small bar instead of a family size one 😂

in reply to Buddy34

I've always had a thing with chocolate and one square per evening seems to keep the cravings away. I have indulged in a few family sized bars myself 😇😂

I actually gave up meat and dairy last year. There's nothing really that I miss...

in reply to GoGo_JoJo

Did you find it hard to give them up?

No, I expected it to be hard as I was a hardcore omnivore... but it was much easier. Cheese is the hardest but it's been proven to be addictive so that makes sense. Once you've been off it for a few months you no longer want it.

in reply to GoGo_JoJo

Ok, thanks for that I have been thinking about it for a while now.

Once you find products that work for you in place of the animal derived products it all falls into place pretty quickly. We had our go to, easy weekly meals before, we do now but they're just meat free, and actually they're even quicker because non-meat products in general cook even quicker! Bonus... more time for running (usually)

in reply to GoGo_JoJo

I have been trying a few veggie meals and they where very nice, I'll maybe increase how often I have them.

Thanks for the info.
