I managed to trip and fall in the last few minutes of the run. Nothing too bad, just a few scrapes but it did shock me!
The pros:
- I'm off to get a tetanus shot as a precaution and I was due for a booster anyway
- I'll get some epic bruising which I'll marvel at in the way only the mind of a 10 year old boy can, never mind that I'm a girl in my late twenties π
- I have a fun story for the "how was your weekend" conversations at work on Monday
- I live quite close to my parents and was closer to their place when this happened so I went there afterwards and was babied a bit by Mum and had her broccoli soup which is never as good when I make it!
The cons:
- Ouch π
- I may have to take a few days off running but I'm hoping not!
- The impact of my fall managed to tear a hole in one of my pairs of leggings and I've had to bin them π
- Am I really that uncoordinated π
- Can I go onto week 9? I very much want to but feel like I may have to repeat one week 8 run in order to really qualify. I'll have a think about it over the next few days. What do you guys think? π€
My favourite part is the last song on my podcast is the theme song to Rocky. When it started playing just after I was lying on the foothpath, I did have a slight chuckle. Well done on your epic fall, Jaz π
Stay safe when running, everyone! Happy running π

Wow poor you but I truly love your post. You know mums love when their grown up children still need them so thankyou on behalf of all mums for showing us we still are needed and make the best soup. Now lift your feet and run safely on week 9. Take care and happy running
I probably could have! But I would have to put in a hem at the bottom and thought it was better to just bin them. I'm decent at sewing, but not that good!
Oh you poor thing at least you got your mum and the soup to comfort you, rest a bit and carry on iβd say but only you know if you need to repeat a run
Just take it nice and slow, on the longer runs we joggled along as slow as we could just so we could get to the end and were surprised to find we were running faster than in the early weeks, we still go slow but over the weeks and months found that our slow now is faster than we could have run back in june
Good luck and there is no shame in a little walk in the middle especially if you find a few aches from your fall
Do whatever your body tells you to do. If you feel like you can go for it then do, if not then repeat. And if your leg is too sore to run then don't run.
I don't feel too bad the day after it happened so I think I should be okay to run on Tuesday and take a two day break. I'll see how I go but I don't want to stress myself especially when I'm so close to the finish! π
