My podcast this week told me when I'm 5 minutes in, halfway through, 20 minutes in and 24 minutes in.
Based on these sign posts, I know I really felt the run about 17-20 minutes in. I am too stubborn to give up but, my God, I was jogging slower than a snail moves and really feeling it. What I found most strange was I just wanted to keep running in a straight line, and the thought of turning left or right felt like the biggest effort. Weird.
22ish minutes in, everything was fine. So fine, in fact, that when I was 24 minutes in I tried to pick up the pace for the last minute... and promptly got a stitch that slowed me right down again π I won't make that mistake again!
Week 7 done and dusted. Bring on week 8.
Happy running π

Yay! Well done Jaz! I seem to have missed something out along the way coz you were 1 run behind me last week and now we have just completed week 7 together!! So good! This is starting to feel really proper!!
I do Sunday Tuesday and Thursday mostly, but have chopped and changed a couple over the last couple of weeks due to my husband being away and having to do double dog walking duty! Meh! Who cares, we are so ON IT!! ππ€£
Congratulations on completing week 7 of C25K, sorry about your stitch at 24 minutes, hope that stitch won't stop you on running run 1 of week 8. if so, give yourself a few extra days off, drink plenty of water the day before you run and run, run 1 of week 8 a little slower than you did today.
I'm a couple of runs behind you at the moment, but I need to leave 2 days between runs to recover. I am running very very slowly. A man walked passed me tonight - I'm not joking! Mind you, he was walking very quickly I suppose. I'm trying to do exactly as the program says and not worry about the speed. Good luck with week 8. We aren't far off now.
I sometimes run so slowly, it's like I'm running backwards π
I think the problem is that the goal of the program is to run 30 minutes. "Couch to Running 30 Minutes" just doesn't have the same ring to it that "Couch to 5K" does.
I run around a small common and up until now no one else has run at the same time. But today someone did.... at least I was going clockwise and she counter-, so it wasnβt toooo obvious that every time she passed me at an earlier placeπ.
They won't pay any negative attention to you! Imagine if you saw a runner while you were running and you saw they were running even slower than you were - you would be cheering them on!
I know exactly what you mean! I've had just that feeling that any deviation from my course would just be the end. I think it's a mental focus thing. It's hard and you can do it but don't ask for anything more, your body is saying!
It is very much a mental thing! I used to think running was 50% physical, 50% mental. But I feel like the ratio is more like 20/80 now... And the ratio keeps going down! π
Hey, I just did W7D2 and I found that the first 5 minutes and the last 5 minutes were really long, but the middle bit went fairly quickly. Whyβs that now??? Hahaha. At least we both got to the end! Well done to you!
I know there is something about the "toxic ten" where your body takes time to get used to running which is why the first 5-10 minutes are not the best of any run. There are posts about it on this forum.
As for the last five minutes, maybe your were just tired? See how you go with day 3 of week 7 - maybe things will be better!
