'Last week, research published by the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that running can reduce the risk of early death regardless of how long or at what speed you run. The research focused on 14 previous studies based on six different groups of participants, totalling more than 230,000 people over a period of between 5.5 and 35 years. The authors reported that any amount of running, even just once a week, is better than no running at all.'

Lol IannodaTruffe, my age grading at parkruns has been around 57%, don't think that I will get to that magic 60%, nevertheless I am quite happy with my runs, I don't think that I will live forever 😀Yesterday was my 10th parkrun 🏃🏾
Parkruns use events to allow runners to compare results.
Age grading takes your parkrun times and uses the world record time for your gender and age to produce a percentage.
I suppose if you can get 50% that would be considered as a pass, 60% or above is considered as excellent, don't take age grading seriously.
There was a 55 year old woman who got a age grading of 99% for running a 5K parkrun in around 18 minutes, a lot of men in their 70's who can run a 5K sub 30 minutes get a age grading in the 60's or 70's.
I do four out of five of those activities. I've just worked out that I've reduced my risk of early death by 120%. Now all I have to do is avoid the buses on the country lane where I run 🤪
I had a friend who is a hill runner and incredibly fit. He said that he has really bad genes, with most of his ancestors dying young. It is his goal to die whilst 100% healthy!
It was more to do with healthy lifestyle rather than it being a dangerous sport, most of the cycling I do nowadays are on off roads, cycle or walking paths, any roads I do cycle on are minor B roads, all the running I do are off roads.
Well spotted. 😄👍 Interesting to see that combining running & yoga is a particularly good way to go. That should keep us at it on those “hard to get moving” days! 👏🏼🎉And I too am glad that even slow running works. 🐢😊
Thank you for sharing. I lead health walks and can see 1st hand the impact it has on people's health - reduced blood pressure, lower diabetes risk, less social isolation.....
