My journey to 5k

I’ve loved my journey and did 30 minutes today non stop something I couldn’t have done 6/7 weeks ago. My only concern is as an oldie novice jogger 30 minutes does not equal=5k .. so I could do with couch to 5k having the option of taking a couple of weeks longer for the likes of me to reach 5k. That said I’m really chuffed with my progress and intend to continue 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️till I do.

Well done for reaching 30 minutes of steady running. If you keep on doing 30 minute runs 3 times a week for a bit, your legs will strengthen enough to begin extending one run a week by a little bit. Before you know it, you’ll be comfortable doing 5K. 😄👍 The accepted rule to avoid injury is not to extend distance by more than 10% in any week. Happy running.

Only a small proportion of graduates on this forum manage 5k in 30 minutes at graduation and that is across all age ranges, so you are in good company.

If you have graduated, then you may find this guide to post C25K running helpful healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Most people don't reach 5k by the end of c25k. But if you keep at it and pick 1 run per week to add on a little bit each week 5k will just happen . Good luck 😊
