Evening run !!!!

Well I’ve managed to run 3 times this week but only done W6r2 each time. I’ve lost my confidence about running any longer than 10 minutes outside just can’t seem to get over this wall.

You’ve lost your confidence. I just can’t be bothered 😬

Well done on 3 runs. Keep going. You’ll be back to it soon.

Hope so. I’m sure you’ll be back on form soon. It’s so hard to keep motivated. It’s only cos I’ve not actually run very far outside that is keeping me at it I don’t want to be beaten. But it’s sooooo hard sometimes.

It’s a temporary blip & it will happen!

If you have got this far your body is ready for it. You now have to deal with the negative feelings. Things to check

Am I drinking enough water on run & rest days?

Am I running really slowly? 🐌

Do I vary my route & my music?

Have I read about the toxic 10?

The first 10 mins of the run is always the hardest for most of us. After that your mind and body settle in to the rhythm of the run and it feels much better. So start off very very slowly to get through the first 10 mins & then tell yourself you can do another 5 as you want to experience the rhythm & the enjoyment! After that the next 5 you will really want to do!

You can definitely do this!!

🤔 well the only way to build confidence is to do it a little at a time. How about do it again but do 12 each time or 11 and 12 or even 10 and 12? Once you get over that wall you might feel braver?

I’d say that’s pretty impressive that you’re running for 10 mins! I’m on wk3 and 3 minutes seems like an awfully hard slog at times! Ease up on yourself - you’re still getting your kit on, heading out and running for 10 mins - that’s a great achievement! When the times right your body will power you along for longer but for now be proud of yourself for getting out there and keeping going, 10 mins running really is quite something 👍.

You're doing great, sound advice from Annie and jojo. I'd just add, whatever you decide to do on your next run imagine us all at your side cheering you on then feel proud, really proud, of whatever time you run for. You are a winner and we are with you all the way. Take care, relax and enjoy, this needs to be fun not a chore.

Thanks everyone I’ll try to remember what you’ve all said and I’ll keep looking over my shoulder to see if you’re all there shouting me on.

Hopefully we can get you back to your running. Next time try just continuing with c25k after wk6r2 maybe the coach in your ear can spur you on. Good luck 😊😊

Thanks I’ll try but it’s a big jump from 10 minutes to 25 minutes!!!!!

Deep down I'm sure you know you can do it . Look back on your wk6 posts to give you a boost 😊

Set yourself a target for each run. Something realistic and attainable, as suggested in the guide to post C25K running.

This will replicate the progress and satisfaction that C25K gave you.

Thanks to all I’ll take a couple of rest days and see if I can get over this. I know I will just seem to lack that confidence at the moment.

I just did w6r3 and it really isn’t that bad! Distract yourself. I counted how many cheesy songs Laura played in 25 minutes (10) - somehow having something external to take my mind off it helped.

I’ll try that one. Thanks

Did not know there were any cheese songs in the background. Did not notice them yet

Is there anyone that could join you on your run? That way you can focus on each other and might distract you from your mental block.

Another tip would be to tell yourself positive thoughts while running. It helped me when I had to overcome my mental block.

Thanks I’ll try that too. Don’t know anyone else who goes running at my sloooow level.
