Well, that's Week 6 finished 😊

This evening I did my first 25 minute run, which brings me to the end of week 6!

I keep saying it but I still can't really believe that I can actually now run for 25 minutes and I'm only 9 runs away from completing the programme! This is literally the only fitness plan I have stuck to in my entire life and it feels amazing.

After about 5 minutes into today's run, my legs started to hurt but once I'd pushed past the halfway point, the calf pain disappeared and I really started to enjoy it. Also, for the first time, I got in to a real headspace where I was so focused on my running and zoned out to everything around me. It felt fantastic and I was on such a high when I got to the end.

I will see this through. Especially as Sarah now tells me I'm officially "a runner" β˜ΊοΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

We so enjoyed the longer runs and now if we decide we need a little walk in the middle we are happy with that and find that because we allow ourselves a bit of walking we don’t need to lol

It’s posts like this that inspire me. I’m at the beginning of my journey and still wondering if I’ve got what it takes. You should be proud of yourself and yes, you deserve to celebrate your success so far! I bet you will be popping corks at the end of the programme!!

Ember22 profile image
Ember22Graduateβ€’ in reply toSuzieMac

I'm glad you're feeling inspired 😊 Keep going you're doing brilliantly!! Honestly if I can do this then so can you. I was so unfit and had always hated running everytime I'd tried to get into it before. I had my doubts about the programme actually being able to turn me into a runner but it really works! Good luck and keep us updated on your running journey πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Well done Ember 22 your post is inspiring. I've just started week 3 and I have to say I struggled with run 1.couldn't really find my pace with the run/walk I had to follow. Run 2 for me today, can't say I'm looking forward to it. πŸƒβ˜”

Well done Ember22, glad you are enjoying the same experience as loads of other runners who embarked on this program before you (including me). Like you this is the only program where I have stuck to it. Took me 12 weeks in the end as I had the odd run that I decided to redo (painful calf being a few of them). I took the advice on here and mentally ingrained to take on more water especially the day before going out but now all the time. That solved my leg pains and has done ever since. Make sure you always have at least one rest day too between runs. To be honest I did not "really" enjoy the running till about 8 months in so well after graduating and redoing the final graduation run many times over. Out of the blue I found a good pace that a 61 year old could handle and have just kept going since enjoying every run.

Keep going and look forward to your new lease of life ahead.
