With a good tail wind.....

Had a good tail wind this morning for a coastal run, so managed to hit the 5km in 30mins for the first time, more impressive as the tail wind turned into a strong headwind when I turned around at the halfway mark. Still amazed I completed C25K, but even more amazed that by week 4 consolidation run I have hit the 5k mark in 30 mins. Can’t say I have been trying to speed up but certainly noticed my pace improve over the consolidation runs. All helps with the mental encouragement to keep on running post C25K. Keep on running wherever you are in the program.....

Thanks. Yes it does feel good, as I still can’t believe that back in July I struggled to run the 60 secs of week 1. Like everyone says C25K really does work if you stick with it.

Haha... yes, I'm at Wk1 and struggling with the 60 seconds. But I'm aiming to stick with it :-)

Once you and your body get over the initial shock of week 1 it does become easier. I noticed a real change when I mentally told myself “I can do this” as opposed to saying “you aren’t a runner”! One other piece of advice at the end of week 2 I bought a cheap pair of running shoes, certainly a massive improvement for me over my old trainers. Good luck with the program, remember it is very do’able !!!

Please do - it does work - even if you feel you are dying!! That first week of running for 60 seconds was, for me, the worst week of the whole programme - once I got over how chuffing unfit I was and W1R3 actually happened, something just kicked in and whilst not easy, managed all of the other weeks - as everyone on here says go slow then slower!!!
