Wild wind, steeper than expected hill and a bog! Not good route planning.

The grumbling legs said they’d be ok today for a short slow run. So it was agreed with them - we’d run mainly on grass, short little steps, no trying to go for speed. Slow would be the way. Aghhh! I so messed up! Drove to decided location, walked for 5 minutes, a sensible warm up after stretching carefully. Then the hill, I thought it was short and gentle, but it seemed steeper but that was ok, short little steps and I actually quite enjoyed it, but the hill kept going for longer than I’d anticipated. Hey ho, footpath sign ahead and I turn off the hill. Set off on said path, although somewhat indistinct followed it along, lovely soft grass and then wham, right foot straight in to bog hastily followed by left foot and some unrepeatable words! To be fair the words got lost in the wind as it was fairly blowing. Once on firmer ground turned to head towards car with soggy feet, slight incline and cor blimey that wind hit hard. 1.5k incline back to car. Phew! But then the legs started grumbling. Once home I rewarded them with a lovely foam roller session. AND I’ve promised them several days or more rest. It’ll give me time to route plan. There’s more to running than running!

I've been planning routes on mapmywalk so that I can check 'elevation'!... might be worth doing for you?

Enjoy your rest day(s)!

That’s definitely a very good idea. I’ll do that. Thank you.

Oh dear. Sounds like something I’d get into. Good luck with the recovery.

Thank you! It’s funny even after a run like that you still just want to run again! Never got that feeling when I tried cycling as an activity!

Great job getting through that run... the hill and the really boggy big will have made you stronger than if you’d had a flat mud free run... good workout!

Thank you. That’s what I’m loving about running, every time there’s a sense of improvement.

Enjoyed reading your storyline, made me chuckle! I'm currently doing C2C! (Couch to couch, I couldn't run if you threatened to shoot me!) 🏆
