Junior parkrun this morning was nuts, but a good test of the ankle. The turnout was low, and no slow ones there... so I had to run the first half km pretty fast, then the run director stopped me and said there were late starters... so I waited for them, then more started so I got a longer break... then another arrived. The last arrived was fast and ran past us before the 1k mark, at which point the ones I’d waited for decided to pull out and I tried to chase down the fast kid, which was an impossibility and fortunately he passed some that I assumed were the tail... nope, they were just running in the park and nothing to do with us... so back on the sprint intervals. Today this tailwalker finished at speed... way after the last runner. I’ve put a request in for a tail spotter next time!
So this morning I ran a mile... followed by 2k impromptu speed intervals, and my ankle was fine... so upping the mileage to 1.5 miles next time out and figure I’ll do 2 at each distance now as I get back to 3.11 and finally run a parkrun!

You mentioned this morning's junior parkrun in my previous post to you about a hour ago was a bit hectic, now I know why, glad your ankle is OK, you can now relax for a while now as there are no more junior parkrun's this year. 😊
This is true 😂. May miss the next couple as well, it’s not in my town and I won’t be passing like I normally am so will only go if they put out the SOS email on a Thursday!
It could have been worse... at 5 to 9 we had 2 runners... both teenage girls in running shorts and trail spikes, regular sub 9 minute runners... I was desperately hoping at least one slower one would arrive 😂
I swear the little blighters wait for me to be tailwalker... every other week the tail is nice and slow and completes the course, sometimes via some flower picking, but never when I do it!!!
Ha! I tail walked on Saturday l, after a night out. Thought it would be easy... there are always a few walkers..and very slow runners.... not this week! I had to run more than I walked to keep up with the last runner who finished in 45 mins. I may as well have run ha ha!
😂. You get a credit for both fortunately!I have considered skipping my pre juniors runs and making the kids at the pack run faster, but apparently I’m not allowed to 😂
I’m considering tailwalking Saturday parkrun though as a way of getting used to the terrain... the way my luck runs though it’ll be me and all the sub-17 and sub-20 hall of famers!
