As planned, went out this morning to do R3W1 and as an experiment listened to the podcast which includes music instead of the plain app (I don't have any music on my 'phone). It took a bit of adjusting to get the volume right, initially I didn't want it too loud but then when I got to where there was occasional road traffic had to turn it up as I didn't want to miss the instruction to start (or more importantly finish) a run. I did go further today than ever before (Map my Run tells me I did 3.79km, usually it's been around 3.4 - 3.5), but I don't know if that was the effect of the music or just an improvement in my technique or fitness levels. Another reason for some of this extra distance is that the podcast doesn't have a half-way bell alarm (I do a there & back route because I don't know how far I'm going to go) and once I'd realised that and turned around it was almost time to start my next run. Anyway, I progressed to the end and decided as I had a little more time before I got home, I preparation for next week I made my final run about 90 seconds instead of 60 (as I usually run for 80 paces in a minute I counted 120 in the final run). I did feel that I could have maybe pushed on further but decided not to, just in case. So now I'll have one or two rest days (I'll see how the weekend pans out) and then throw myself into week 2!
W1R3 completed!: As planned, went out this... - Couch to 5K
W1R3 completed!
Well done on completing week 1 you have done the hardest part getting started and completing a whole week.
You are doing awesome and will look forward to you posting your next run after some well deserved rest days.
Brilliant wk1 completed. Just stick to the plan don't do any extra. You're doing great. Well done you 😊😊
Thanks for all the support folks, it really helps. I must say I'm finding that reading the posts of those further along this journey than I am very encouraging (even if it does make my achievements so far seem less impressive!). I will continue to visit the forum and hope that I can help with suggestions here and there and I will also continue to mention my progress (but not every session) as it spurs me on and may be an encouragement to those who have started after me.
