I joined C25K in April 2019 but just completed week 4 run 1 on Friday 27 September 2019. Have I added patience to my repertoire? Maybe! Last September I purchased a pair of Asics Nimbus Gel 15 running shoes and in December I bought Asics running kit (lycra tights). But I've used this motivational kit indoors to improve fitness by cycling on my JTX static bike varying time, resistance, pace, & programmes and various exercise routines using light barbells and body weight. With frequent short walks, week1-week 4.1runs and weekly "walking" football, I have recorded over 2,000000 Fitbit steps. I have kept clear of injury and on Saturday I gave my kit the first outing on an external run. I wanted to test myself over a local run I did in 2008-9. The streets I follow take me uphill towards Frodsham Hill, contour along the edge, parallel to the golf course with drops into gullies and steps up to Woodhouse Hill forest. You'll know that confusion when you're sure you know the way but don't quite recognise where you are !! In truth it was difficult, the distance was longer than I remembered and the path was overgrown but at a point when I was going to give up I spotted the landmark viewing point across to Helsby Hill and Frodsham marshes and carried on. I eventually found the way down Woodhouse hill onto the firm but giving path that I would normally take to Frodsham War Memorial but I declined the steps up the hill and cut into Overton and headed for home. I tried to follow Laura's guidance of walking 3 and running 3 and of slowing down but keep moving. I did walk at a fair pace and jogged 2-3 minutes maximum but kept going. My Fitbit recorded 103 active minutes and a distance of 9.3 kilometres. And the best bit is that I am reasonably pain free, realise I need to get more practice jogging, and am ready to go again this week.
