Since the recent C25K app update on my phone (where it asked for permission to use my location), my fitibit isn't tracking my route very well at all. I ran W7R3 after the update, and although I did the exact same route as R1 and R2 (give or take about 100m), my fitbit recorded the distance at 1km less. I've checked the route on mapmyrun, so I haven't been kidding myself as to distance over the previous weeks!! The route map on the fitbit cuts corners which is why I think the distance is showing as less, which it didn't do before.
Today I did W8R1, and again, my fitbit was short by about a km. I can only assume that the tracking on the c25k is somehow interfering with the fitbit tracking. My calorie count and steps are all looking correct - I've increased my steps today in line with the increased running time, so happy that that is correct. I've also turned off the location (not sure why it is on tbh…) so will see what happens next run out.
I know it's the running time, but it's also nice to see the progress that I've made in distance. Phone and fitbit charged, so anyone else having this? Fitbit Alta HR for any technogeeks!

Since I updated the c25k app my Fitbit doesn't track properly either, apparently I only did 0.4 on what is usually a 2.15m circuit. Luckily because I run it regularly I've got the distance already logged. It's just soo frustrating.
Kinda glad it's not just me...! That tracking is even worse than mine!!
I had a 2 week break between W7 runs 2 and 3, and luckily I'd done the same route (all three runs that week are the same), so I knew how far I'd gone. I was thinking of doing a different route - if I had, I'd have been really demotivated thinking I'd run 1km less and had lost so much after all the hard work. I'm not super speedy, and it's not about time, but it is about improving. Will see how my next run goes with the location off and see what happens.
Sounds like an issue with the gps device rather than the Fitbit to me... I haven’t tried this, but maybe the device is struggling to allow two things to use location services. Try turning them off for C25K and see if the problem goes away.
Oh, interesting. I've just made a post about this today because my Fitbit has been reasonably accurate for five months, but two weeks ago it decided to under-record distance and also step count. There was always a slight discrepancy with my phone and I wasn;t sure which one was at fault so I downloaded Runkeeper which tallied exactly with phone telling me I'd run 4.8k, whereas fitbit registered my distance at 2.9k!
I haven't updated any apps in a while, so it's not that, either.
It's weird... I contacted Fitbit too, and they just didn't get the issue, even though I sent them screenshots. It's better now - I logged out of fitbit, turned all settings off - location etc ensured apps were up to date (which they were), rebooted and then switched everthing back on. It's not 100%, but close enough now, I guess.
Thank you. I'll try that next. I've just reset and recharged, but forgot to wear it today, so let's hope I remember on Friday and can see how it's doing.
My Fitbit versa lite was off by at least 0.5km ( Fitbit made me go further!) compared to Strava, and they both use my phones GPS.
Until Garmin make a device small enough for me to wear comfortably I am pretty much stuck with my phone and Strava. But I will still know the comparative distance and times.
