Bruce and I went running
That’s Bruce Springsteen not Forsyth
The sun just up, the morning air
Cut through me like a knife
I set out on a different route
Despite it being hilly
And in no time I had well warmed up
Though the temperature was chilly
Now since I started running
Way back in May this year
I’ve startled many rabbits
And occasionally deer
But today my brush with nature
Was closer than I’d choose
When I trod upon a badger
And near jumped out of my shoes
The poor thing was a goner
And the sight was proper grim
But though it was unpleasant
Twas a darn sight worse for him!
