First Parkrun and still here to tell the tale!

Well that was tough, felt a bit defeated as I had to walk despite having been able to run (oh so slowly) for the whole distance in my preparation runs since graduating. It’s a very hilly course and I felt like I was running through treacle on the final uphill to the finish! But the good news, I got a personal best😉🏃‍♀️

Probably try it again in a fortnight, I have a cold which is not helping so hopefully will feel better then

Good on you..

I'll have to try one someday they sound like a good thing to aim for.

I know, I’ve already checked out other local runs - maybe a flat one!

Congratulations on completing your first 5k Parkrun, well done, don't worry about having to walk a little, as you run more of them and on flatter courses you will find that you won't need to walk.

Thanks AlMorr I think I just put too much pressure on myself. I only graduated in August so it’s still early days and I’m not exactly a spring chicken anymore!

parkrun is brilliant and addictive. Run/walk is fine don't worry, the thing is you did it. Took me quite a few runs post graduation before I could complete parkrun non stop. I graduated c25k in December first parkrun was run/walk in December in about 39 minutes. Only now after regularly running for 9 months do I feel strong and comfortably run it non stop. Pb yesterday under 33 minutes for the first time. You'll get there, be patient and just enjoy it. Strength and stamina will come

Thanks steviej99 and congratulations on your Pb. I finished in 42 mins which I’m happy with and yes in time I hope to improve, just wanted to keep running even if slowly but mentally just couldn’t do it, need to stop being hard on myself.
