Hey, new here. Need a little advice.

Just finished week 1 run 3 so due to start week 2 on Thursday.. I've just recovered from a op so really struggled with week 1 .. even tho I stuck to it an did it , I'm just wondering should I repeat week 1 again or do I try w2r1 and see how i feel?

Thanks in advance. 😊

If you feel confident to go onto week 2 that's OK, however, as you have just recovered from a op it might be advisable to take a few days off running and if you wish to repeat week 1,

The fact you did week 1 after an op is great. There are no prizes for overdoing things. Listen to your body. You could try day 1 week 2 if you felt like it and still go back to week 1. Just enjoy and relax

The body needs all the rest it can get to fully complete the healing process, as so much is unseen, even when we feel ok. I’d strictly follow nhs guidelines on recovery and start back gently. Good diet, rest and repeat sounds like a great option to me and listen carefully to your body. Any pain, discomfort or tiredness post op is your body telling you to slow it down. I’m week four now and have found that each third run has always felt easier and left me feeling ready for more if that helps at all in your decision making. Best of luck on your couch 2 5 K journey 🏃🏽‍♀️😀❤️😀

You struggled but you completed it... so in that respect you should be ok to step into week 2. Maybe, if it helps your confidence, another week 1 run could help, but there’s no need to treat them as anything but individual run.

I hadn’t had an op for years and I really struggled with week 1! Week 2 actually felt better for me, mainly because I counted the intervals down from 5 instead of 8!

Great job on week one.

It took me somewhere between 12 and 18 outings to achieve my three completed Week 1 sessions... all other runs in the programme were completed at the first attempt. Week 1 is necessary but it is not easier than the rest of the programme.

Well done for completing Week 1 & assuming your medical advice has given you the green light to exercise I would try W2:1 Every run is a challenge especially in the first few weeks. Follow the golden rule. If you complete move on after a rest day if not repeat after a rest day. Try to run slowly 🐌. Do read the link IannodaTruffe sent you. That’s where you pick up professional help. We give you support and share our experiences so relax and enjoy and keep posting!! 👟🏃‍♀️👏 Welcome!

Have a go at week 2 and if you don’t manage to run it, go back to week 1. After all, it’s your running journey and you’ll know what’s right for you.
