I decided on a speed interval run this morning, best of both world really, I selected W5R2 podcast so I could have the structure and the time keeping plus I didn't need to worry about the music either.
Following on from last weeks Cooper Test I decided to push myself and see if I could do the same 8kph for each of the 8 minute runs (I'm not fast, never claimed to be ), I'd managed to keep the 8kph for the first 5 minutes of that. The first run comes up and I set the treadmill to 8kph and off I go, the pace is comfortable and I'm happy plodding on, 4 minutes in, my heartrate is around the 160 mark, I'm still happy with both the pace and heartrate, breathing is fine.
Laura then tells me I can walk again, thanks, was getting ready to slow down a little at that point anyway, a nice 5 minute recovery walk.
The next run comes up, again, set the treadmill to 8kph and away I go, I must admit, during this one I did drop the incline to 0, much rather do that than slow down as I wanted to finish the run at the pace I'd chosen.
The run ended, back to a brisk walk for 5 minutes to warm down.
I did wear the new Asics on the treadmill today, Mrs LeeU is due to start week 2 on Wednesday so I may start my transition to outdoor running and run week 2 run 1 with her just to start slowly, if everything feels ok I can always add a little onto the end of the run as she is doing her warm down walk.
Happy running everyone.
