After all my talk of running slower etc, my run today was awful. I couldnt even manage 3 mins without a break never mind 8 mins. My legs felt like lead and no stamina. I am hoping it was just because I had little sleep last night due to the heat!
wk5 run2 disaster🙄: After all my talk of... - Couch to 5K
wk5 run2 disaster🙄
Don't worry you get some runs like that. Take a rest day and make sure you're drinking 2-3 litres of water per day and try again. Good luck 😊
At the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised for a good run are restedness, hydration and nutrition.
Have a rest and try again.
I entirely agree with Buddy34 - we all get them and they’re best just ignored. But drinking more water is likely to be the best remedy. There is a scientific explanation somewhere amongst the pinned posts, I believe, but the practical advice is “just do it” 👍😄. Really often poor hydration is behind the heavy legs feeling. Especially likely in the recent heat. Good luck on the next run. 👏🏼👍
Don't worry Jogonton bad runs happen to everyone often when least expected. Every run is a training run not a fail. Start your next run nice and slow and keep it that way! You'll smash it
Don’t be disheartened! Everyone has bad runs sometimes. I’m sure after a rest day, your next run will be better. Hope for a good nights sleep, and stay hydrated - aaand... relax! Enjoy your next run!
Thank you for the words of encouragement, much appreciated😊
Not a disaster - just a practice run! You will get there. 👍👍😀
There are days when we feel less energetic. Its better to do whatever you can and build slowly
Perhaps do the previous session again until you build up stamina but do stick to the three sessions a week.
I struggled at times but the regular exercise pays off.
Don't give up
Good luck.
I’m about to start this and after seeing so many positive posts, I find it inspiring to see someone reflecting on the struggles I know that I myself will face - well done for being honest and keep with it!
Just Me....sometimes along with no sleep, stress, ect. I find my "attitude "especially on a treadmill makes a nice run a terrible struggle . I've found I need an environment with people running too ...and good music in my ear !
A seemingly bad run, is just a practice run! You were out there doing your best. Rest, hydrate & hey presto you will do it next time!
I’m no expert but the sleep thing could well be an impact - sleep is basically re-charging so possibly it’s like expecting your mobile to be operating at 100% power when battery strength is at 10%!
Thanks, my previous runs were not a breeze by any means but to be so bad was very disheartening so I blamed sleep deprivation. I have so much encouragement on this forum though, I will try again tomorrow 🤞
Really don’t worry about it. Like everyone else says, sometimes it’s just like that. I had my best run ever on Monday and yesterday I just felt dreadful and didn’t complete my planned run.
Have a good rest and get back out there. Good luck.
