Hello lovely people. Is it just me or is it still tough running 25/28 minutes even after doing it a couple of times? I don’t seem to be getting into a rhythm and my calves ache although only while I’m doing the running but my breathing is fine.

You're on week 7 of a progressive training program. It's not easy. Sounds like you're doing fine though. It will get easier but that takes a while.

Patience and perseverance.

You're doing great! It's early days still, can take a few years to build runners legs, maybe calves ache a bit if your doing hills, remember slow is key, make sure you're staying well hydrated, and stretching after your runs.

Later in your running journey, if you go on to 10k or even further, you will need to be aware of the 10% rule for adding to your weekly mileage. Week 7 doesn’t look like it’s still pushing you run by run, but if you add up the running for each week you’ll see that it actually is... week 7 is a tough week... week 8 does the same, by week 9 it backs off a little. Consolidation after graduation will have you make 30 minutes a lot easier than it is at graduation. Everything you’re seeing is perfectly normal, and you’re doing great.

I struggle with calf pain whilst running and I’ve found that if I drink plenty it’s not as bad and I do mean plenty like when it’s warm out I have to drink about 6 pints of water a day on top of any other drinks I may have.
