I ran my 3rd Parkrun at Dunfermline and achieved a PB time of 32.19 and an age grading of 56.78%, not only is this a PB at Parkrun but an absolute PB anywhere beating my previous time of 32.23 by 4 seconds which I ran in what I call the Buttercup 5K trail near to where I live, the PB was partially caused by me pacing two ladies in front of me with the 50 and 100 numbers on their T-shirt, I paced them from about 500 metres from the start of the run until about 500 metres to the end when I began to slow down, nevertheless looking at the results I was only at the end less than a minute behind them, all in all I enjoyed the run this morning a little better than last week.

Well done, Al! Thatβs great news. Hope youβll have a good rest now.
Yes, Stephen, I am now having a good rest after my run this morning, I have to take my neighbours dog a walk later, the reason for that is the owner has a minor heart condition and the dog pulls a lot but I won't be running with it
Great stuff, real results! πππ
Thatβs great well done π
Fantastic and huge congratulations on your new PB. Excellent running.
Damien
Thanks Damien, on my first and second parkruns my times were only 1 second of a difference, sub 35 was OK but this morning I hoped to get a sub 34 minute 5k, so I was delighted that it was actually sub 33 at 32.19, at some times I felt I could have overtaken the two ladies that I was pacing but wisdom told me not to as they probably would have overtaken me in the last kilometre.
Well done - glad you are enjoying your runs.
I start Parkrun on 31 August and looking forward to it.
Not sure what to do regarding parkrun on 31 August, the one that I run at is cancelled due to guess what, A Scottish Independence Rally organised by the SNP, I won't be going to it by the way, I could go to a new parkrun much nearer to where I live, it's only been going for three weeks and is reasonably easy to get to OR as part of slowly increasing my distance could try by that time to run a 10k near to where I live, next Wednesday I intend to run a 8k, the following week a 9K, so by that Saturday using my metromone app at 162 steps a minute I could run a 10K in around 75 minutes. π π Using my app at 162 steps a minute during those runs I have had a split 5K time of just over 36 minutes compared to the 32 minutes I do when running recent, including today, 5K runs.
I wish you luck for your first parkrun.
Thatβs great news Alan well done you π I wouldnβt keep keeping up with other runners I did that and exhausted myself so now I just follow myself and distance training will help you big time trust me been there done it wonβt be doing it again π but at least you have a new PB which is fantastic and 4sec is 4 sec better than no sec πππππππππ»ββοΈπ
Thanks Kev, there is now becoming a bit of a battle where I can get a 5K PB, it was what I call the Buttercup 5K trail, then it was Parkrun, ha ha, the next time I run on that trail I my get a sub 32 min. PB, then I'll try and beat that at Parkrun, as you can see there is a sort of trend beginning with those two routes.
The reason I call my favourite route 'The Buttercup 5K trail' is after a remarkable lady who has autism, she struggled through the C25K course and graduated, I thought it was appropriate to name one of the nicest routes near to where I live after her.
Well done you and what a great time. Enjoy your dog walking ππΆ
Thanks Buddy34, I am about to take the dog a walk now.
Well done, AlMorr!
Alan you are catching me up! I did #35 in Keswick this morning and it was 31:44 - still a way off my 30.11 PB. Lovely-Lady-pacing is one of my favourite hobbies too π - today I discovered the lady I had chosen to pace myself was someone I know. There were at least 4 local clergymen running at Keswick this morning, and she was the wife of one of them. We all had a good laugh later. It's been suggested that Parkrun should keep stats on the number of clergy at events...
So glad your Parkruns are fun.

Well done TOF on your 35th parkrun, very good time as well, I am not sure if there were any clergy at my run this morning, however, during part of the route at Dunfermline the runners can see can see Dunfermline Abbey where the heart of Robert the Bruce is buried, I did see several pregnant ladies today but they were at the back of the pack and running slowly or walking.
For the first time I actually was speaking to a lady who has ran more than a hundred parkruns, yes talking while running, wow, however, after a short time I slowly edged ahead but she caught up with me and was actually a little ahead when she stopped and said to me "I'll let you win" it was only about 300 metres to the finishing line, I said 'thanks' and continued to the end.
So nice meeting so many nice people at parkrun.
For me on a Wednesday I do a run which varies in length, on a Thursday I am a member of my local walking club and on Saturday its park run day, I sometimes do a little cycling on a Sunday, so all in all I like to keep fit.
Great stuff, well done xx
Fantastic well done Ali.
Wow thatβs impressive and encouraging because we are still so slow
Well done AlMorr , this sounds like an excellent run!! I've done that before, I thought of myself as running in someone elses footsteps. Excellent start to the weekend x
Thanks MC, I do think the PB was a result of slightly cooler conditions and pacing or as you call it 'running in someone else's footsteps' on the previous two parkruns I have managed to pace a few runners but for not too long, sometimes I overtake them, but usually they tend to gradually increase the distance between me and them, however, today I caught up with two ladies that were running a fraction slower than me, so rather than pass them I paced them for a good 4 Kilometres until about 300 metres to the end when I found myself slowing down a little, there pace was exactly the same pace all the way round.
By the way, there was another lady who belive it or not started to talk to me about the run, wow, first time I have actually talked to someone DURING a run, she told me that she had ran over a hundred parkruns, however, I started edgeing ahead of her but at that part where I started to slow down a bit she again caught up with me then she suddenly stopped and told me in her exact words "I'll let you win" I thought, it's not a race but thanked her, it was very nice speaking to someone running and especially running more than a hundred parkruns.
Al, you are going from strength to strength. Amazing!!!
Thanks HeavyFoot for the compliment, but I am not as amazing as the 13 year old schoolboy who completed that run around 20 minutes, I saw him at the very start of the run surrounded by the normal 20/30 year olds that run sub 20 minutes when I was making my way to the back of the pack, I thought to myself, he is very young to be at the start, but when I looked at the results, he was second..
Well done and a great time!
Thanks Chris, I enjoyed it. π π
Well done! Good run! That's a brilliant time! I'm nowhere close to that ha ha!
I was using two female very experienced parkruners with numbers 50 and 100 on the back of their T shirt, only about 300 metres from the start I had passed many runners as I had started at the back of the pack, however, once I got quite close to them I realised that I was probably going too fast and they were my pace makers until around 300 metres from the finishing line when I began to slow down a little, I thought to myself, OK, this run has been pretty good, I'll slow down a little as I am beginning to get a little tired.
For the first time I actually talked to a runner during the run, she had caught up with me, then as she told me her running history I gradually edged in front of her until again she caught up with me, remember, this all going on with me pacing the two ladies in front with the 50/100 T shirts, eventually when I slowed down a little she went slightly ahead of me then stopped and said to me "I'll let you win" I thought, its not a race but thanked her, it was really nice speaking to someone while running and especially someone who had ran +100 parkruns.
Just catching up with the forum AlMorr as we flew in from France today. Great news about your PB thats a really good time. Congratulations ππββοΈ
Yes lexi6, thank you, I was very pleased with my time on Saturday at parkrun number 3 for me, hope you are enjoying your holiday here in Europe, this Saturday I understand that you will be running at Sale Water Parkrun and meeting some runners from C25K, BaddieThe Pirate and Runningroni among others, I hope you enjoy that run.
Wow! You are amazing! ParkRun for a third time π I always look forward to reading your posts, so interesting and supportive π
Thank you 60fit, glad you like reading my posts, I like to congratulate people with their runs and advise them where to get their graduation badge.
Only the third parkrun for me, I was speaking to someone yesterday while running who was running her 100+ Parkrun. π π
Well done on your 3rd parkrun and PB Al.
Thanks Dexy, I enjoyed my run yesterday, I was actually talking to a person who was running her 100+ parkrun DURING the run, I usually talk to all the friendly people who are about to run or after they have ran at parkrun, but that was the first time I have had a conversation with someone while actually running. π π
I have met some lovely people while running too Al, itβs all part of parkrun. But not everyone likes to talk if they are puffing a bit and want to save their breath. So you just judge it.
She did start the conversation as I passed her, the talking went on for only about three minutes when I realised that I was slightly edging ahead of her, then she caught up with me again when I started to slow down a little, but suddenly she stopped running for around 20 seconds, she then said to me "I will let you win" I thought, its not a race but thanked her and continued running. Looking back at the result page, I think she was only around 10 seconds behind me. π π
Lovely
Parkrun really seems to suit you, Al! π
