Well this happened!

My big toe's been threatening to make a hole for some time now and finally did on this mornings run...on hindsight it seems a bit daft buying running shoes with mesh right to the end of the toes! Oh well, comfy as I find them it's the perfect excuse for a new pair, I couldn't possibly risk big toe injury with sub-standard shoesπŸ˜‰...off to Broughton shopping park for me 😊

Oh dear. I’m looking at my toes at the moment and wondering how long the mesh is going to last! I’m also thinking bad idea on mesh all the way past the toes but my feet get really hot and I think this is good aeration? Good luck with the shoe buying.

Thanks, they were only Β£35 in the sales and have lasted a year and 2 months so not terrible considering the mesh. May be worth it for you if you need the ventilation πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

My mum had something similar on her pair of Skechers. Was annoying as they were brand new!

That's bad...mine lasted a little over a year at least! Will be more careful what I'm buying this time πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Just an observation.

1) Your big toe seems to be in the middle of your foot. Not much you can do about that but are your shoes wide enough in the forefoot?

2) The hole is right at the end of the shoe. It's normally recommended to have about a thumbs width of free space at the end of your toes. Might save you a few toe nails if you move on to longer runs.

Lots of people say you should get running shoes a size (or more) bigger than normal shoes. I disagree. I think you should get them properly fitted by someone who knows how. Of course that might result in the same thing

Thanks for the advice. They were my first pair and I pretty much just bought a cheap pair I liked as I wasn't sure I'd keep this running lark up. Will pay more attention to the fit etc this time and ask for advice at the shop πŸ‘

I recommend you go to a specialist running shop and have a gait analysis done so that you get the right shoes. They are the best investment you will make.

Great time for new shoes then . Don't forget to post a photo of them . You know how we all like new shoes on here πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

To avoid my big toe from making a hole in my new running shoes/socks like they have done to my ordinary socks I cut my big toe nail far more often than previously, even if it's just the big toe that I cut, it's never got to the point of causing a hole in my shoe, only the socks. 😊
