I completed C25K at beginning of July. Can’t believe I did it. Never ran in my life before but on my 65th birthday I decided I needed to be fitter and change my routine. Now running consolidation runs. I need to improve my speed. Can’t say I’ve got the bug for running but I like the sense of achievement after 30 mins running. Got to keep going to get to 5k. So far managed 4.5km only in combination of 30 mins running and 5 mins warm up and 5 mins cool down walking. I’ll just keep going at my own pace. Good luck all C25K runners. Keep going you can do it. I did. πŸ˜€

There are two ways to get to 5k after your consolidation runs. One is to try to run faster and the other is to keep your existing speed but gradually run for longer. Believe me, the latter is easier, probably safer too, and will get you to 5k sooner. If you keep two runs at 30 minutes but increase just one run per week by 3 minutes each week you’ll be at 5k before you know it. 5k is 5k whether you run it in 30 minutes or take longer.
