W9R2 Second time around, 5K in the bag, great to be back!

Thirty minutes is about three and a quarter laps of my local park and today I finished the run and just kept going until I completed four laps which is over 5K. I’d planned to do this on my final run of the programme but pushed myself and I’m so pleased to be back where I was at the beginning of the year. This was my goal and by repeating the whole programme again I’ve gained and I’ve lost. I’ve gained immense respect for everyone who comes back from injury or illness. In a way, it’s harder for rank amateurs like me than it is for professionals. I’m not talking about the medical support and specialist training that they get; I’m referring to motivation. I don’t have to run and at my age (65) it would be easy for me to give up and view my running days as being over. I didn’t though and it makes me think of everyone who has suffers a setback who grits their teeth and fights their way back to fitness. That’s what I’ve gained. What I’ve lost is thirteen pounds in weight since the end of May and my weight, which has been up and down (mostly up) for over a year, is in a steady and healthy decline. I feel a real sense of achievement I would like to thank everyone who read my posts earlier in the year when I was down and gave me great motivating advice.
