An extra rest day

Today would be W3R1 and I was excited, but my knee is feeling slightly niggly so I’m having an extra rest day. Feeling a bit meh 😒 and hoping that it won’t get worse 😔

Happened to me in W2. Got so bad I had to stop running for a while and only just back to it now - with new trainers!

Oh really? It’s so frustrating, isn’t it?! I’m going to get new running shoes, but I’m a bit worried tbh that it’ll get worse.

Is your running going ok now then with the new trainers?

Finding it a bit of a struggle getting back into it but going to persevere! Knee been ok so far with new trainers so fingers crossed it was worth spending the extra money on a decent pair. Hope your knee is ok. Frozen peas helps!!! 🤣

Wise decision. Do you wear a knee support?

I don’t. When I first had the issue years ago just mountain walking, I used a bandage type support and then a neoprene one, but I felt like it made it worse when it slipped, so I worry about doing more harm than good. This was 25 years ago though so they’ve probably moved on since then! Have you used one?

Yes but not for running. I had bad knee problems a few years ago caused, I think, from regularly walking down lots of steps. I wore a support for skiing and hiking and found it made a lot of difference. It was recommended by a physio and had a hole for my kneecap.

Right, thank you for that, I’ll bear it in mind 😊

Good for you - I find that when I took an extra day it always paid off and I was doing better on the next run. You're being smart!

Thank you so much! It’s easy to get discouraged, but that makes me feel better 😊
