So my gym classes claim that they can burn more calories doing a HIIT class in 30 minutes then I would on a tread mill by raising the heart rate and doing circuit interval style resistance training. I am not sure what everyone’s thoughts on this are as my local running group also do something similar which is interval, tempo, hill sprints and pryamid running where they raise and lower the intensity of the circuits/sprints up and down like a pyramid-I would have thought doing that on a tread mill would be punishing enough, I just like the HIIT classes as I like the weight training aspect of it all and was wondering if this will help with the 5k training or hinder it.

I would think that those gym classes with HIIT exercises will help you with C25K, as long as you don't overdo it.

Non impact work on some of your rest days will aid your core strength and stamina... just don't tire yourself

All exercise routines have the same principals as C25k, slow and steady increases. I have a terrible habit of adding things in too fast then about three weeks in realising I have had no recovery time 😀. Hiit is very intensive so I would try the class once a week to start with and see how you recover along side your running. Rfc x
