Park run 48 minutes

Did my first park run this morning. Very slow but in keeping with my progress so far. Three circuits of the park. Managed to run the first two and then ran and walked the third one. The furthest I’ve ever run but will I ever get faster? Almost the last to finish which is reminiscent of school days!

Well done, Painterabstract - your first Parkrun! Did you enjoy it?

Yes I did enjoy it. Just have to get over being slower than two smallish children!

:) 48 mins is a great time for your first 5K! Mine was similar at 46:59 (that one second is very important, lol) at my first Parkrun at the start of June. Imagine if you'd got round in super fast time - you'd have to bust a gut to get a new pb! Also, children have a very unfair advantage with their ridiculous ability to just dawdle along looking at flowers, insects etc and then zoom off on their speedy little legs and effortlessly overtake us without really breaking into a sweat.

Congratulations on completing your first 5k Parkrun yesterday, don't worry about time, as long as like me you enjoyed running your first parkrun that is the main thing, well done 😀 🏃.

It’s not a race. It’s just a run in the Park. Well done, now you have an official finish time to go back and try to beat next week.

Never run with small children.. ever :) They are very speedy :)

Waiting for a small person to tire after playtime, in order to resume lessons taught me that :)

Well done you... Try not to focus on speed maybe... I am not sure when you graduated...but it is running and lots of it, that build up distance and maybe eventually speed...

Mixing up your running routes....new routes, short routes, plenty of 30 minute routes and...the long slow, see where you get to, routes too. Those for many of the seasoned graduates are the ones that have built up your stamina, and your strength and the running legs. They are the ones that lay the foundations for all that evolves...

You can use strategies for gaining speed, but it is not a quick fix..it has to be done slowly and gradually... and even then injury can occur... ( I know that myself..) Park run is about challenges, just personal ones, but is there, mainly for enjoyment too :)

You will get faster and this is a respectable time. Stick to the programme and you’ll do so well. I wish I thought about incorporating park run into my c25k schedule earlier. Parkrun is so addictive!
