Of course it is, running is running, you will find people will try and entice you outdoors but that is just because they love it so much but starting on the treadmill is fine, you are off that couch. Happy running. Rfc x

It completely is! Only thing to note is that it is easier on a treadmill so don’t be disheartened if you do one outside and find it much tougher. In this heat, inside might be the thing that helps you stick at it. This is an incredible journey - I hope you enjoy it & are amazed at your progress as much as most of us here have done!

Good I’m not keen to do it outside at the moment as too embarrassed

Mine was because of my pollen allergy, but if it's just embarrassment, you should do a post about being embarrassed to run outside, many people here have had the same problem. Some ran in the dark, some went miles away from home so no one would recognise them, etc. What most realised is that the majority of folks are too engrossed in their own lives/problems to see others and you will be just another runner doing their thing. If they notice you it will be because they wish they could do it too.

Please ask others about their experiences, you may be surprised (in a nice way)

I tend to do 2 runs a week on a treadmill and 1 outside due to working away in the week. Treadmill definitely easier, and it certainly was for the first few runs - I thought people would judge me for walking, even when it's what the app said to do. Also the treadmill keeps pace with me and I feel it pulls me on when I'm flagging.

What I find now is there is more motivation outside (gotta get home somehow!), and so far I haven't been overtaken while running, only walking (although I do go out at odd times of day).

Do whatever works for you - try a bit of both, and it is possible to stick with a bit of both too. Variety is the spice of life and all that!

I have completed C25k previously and about to start week 9, all on a treadmill.

I have tried running outside, I have an issue with regulating my pace outside, not sure if this linked to the treadmill or not, I will be transitioning outside possibly as early as Saturday but I want to get gait analysis done first and buy a pair of swanky running shoes.

As already stated, treadmills are fine.

What ever your comfortable with 😊Yes I have run my 9 weeks on treadmill.. I did try outside the other day but really struggled. So I’m going to graduate on treadmill and then try outside again after a couple of weeks..
