Aged 52 and 3/4s I’ve just graduated C25k week 9 on a treadmill (woohoo) any tips for transferring that to a park run as can’t seem to manage week 5 outside in the fresh air with wind, kerbs, uneven paths etc

Slowly... it really is the only way, as it is so, so different:)

This may help?

Just take it very gently.... it will come, and the joy of being outside is incredible.. all seasons, all weathers and no run, even on the same route is ever the same:)

I’m an early riser so really enjoy having the road to myself what ever the weather 🏃‍♀️ thanks again Oldfloss 👍

Once you get used to running outside you’ll never want to do the treadmill again. The treadmill is certainly easier but there is no pleasure in it compared to the fresh air 🏃‍♀️

You could try doing part of your run outside and finishing on a treadmill, gradually increasing, I did it that way and can now run 3.5k outside.

Take it slow and find somewhere flattish to start. Slow slow and slow.

I too have recently graduated, 52 this Saturday. I do virtually all my running on a treadmill. My first ever run outside was not good. I needed to slow down and get my breathing right. Second time so much better. I intend to do my first park run in a couple of weeks. I know I will be walking some of the route but will give it my best shot.

Great to know I’m in good company, thank you for sharing and good luck with your park run 🏃‍♀️
