Running every day?

I graduated a couple of weeks ago and have continued to run 30 minutes every other day and today increased to 35 minutes. I am going on holiday on Friday, my next running day, and wondered if it would be a bad idea to run tomorrow even though I ran today?

You might be lucky and get away with it, or you may come a cropper and hurt yourself which is probably the last thing you want before going on holiday.

Take it as a bonus rest, it won't do you any harm and your legs may even thank you for it.

Thanks for your advice. I'll run on Saturday hopefully without getting lost!

Not advisable to run on consecutive days, the number one rule of C25K is never run on two days in a row, if you do you could get injured, enjoy your runs on holiday if you want to run.

Thanks for your reply

New runners shouldn't run consecutive days.. If you look at beginner training plans for things like 10k they have 3 runs a week, intermediate plans have 4 runs a week... This is because your legs need to develop and so it reduces the risk of injury. You've also just increased your running today, so I'd say it would be unwise to run tomorrow, you might get away with doing two short easy runs on consecutive days, but even then you're risking injury and is it really worth it? Especially if you're about to go on holiday... Swim, do some strength training, strength training is just as important.

But it's up to you. Good luck and enjoy that holiday. 🥂🍹

It would be a risk... and it’s not worth starting C25K again for. A torn muscle could have you out for months if severe.

It’s something you can look at least six months into your running, preferably twelve. Even then to drop rest days needs some planning, weekly mileage needs to stay the same, only one day a week at a time should be added, and runs need to slowly build up in between additions.
