Lack of blood or all in my head?

Hi

I realise that running is all in the mind but I gave blood last Friday afternoon and obviously had a break for a few days. Tried running my normal 5K on Monday morning so that's approx 60 hours later - I did do my normal gym training for a couple of hours on the Sunday which included a 10min treadmill.

Couldn't finish the Monday run without walking 3 times. Also noted that my max heart rate was 220bpm where normally it's 160ish. So was it the lack of blood or was it just in my head that I had given blood so was likely to stall.

I should say I've run a 2 or 3 5Ks a week for a month now so should have been ok.

Thoughts?

Hard one to know I think. The change in the weather will play a part too, hydration and for some lack of sleep. Sometimes it is combination of everything. Hope your next run feels better. Rfc. X

You shouldn’t feel the effects of giving blood 24hrs after having given blood. Maybe it was the heat or other factors.
