From 52:34 mins to 41:17 mins for my 2nd 5km run!

I SMASHED IT - 11 mins 17 seconds off my previous "oh-so-slow" 5k! After one month of training.

OK, so I know it's still not actually fast, and my son (14) still jogs on ahead of me at about double my speed, but at least I did it AND I also got my fastest ever 1km time in my LAST leg! What's that all about?

I admit I am choosing nice down hill routes for my 5K's and although a bit cloudy (great for running) I got to a lovely viewing point over the village of Avô (Grandfather), in Central Portugal.

My shorter training runs use a 'there and back' with a slight up hill return, so it's almost a 'treat' to go all that way down hill. I felt very comfortable even singing along a bit to some of my tunes! (Mad singing-running Lady).

Over 2 minutes less per km, and I noticed (smuggly) that my son can no longer keep up with me just by walking! (LOL) However dropping another 11 minutes 17 seconds may take me longer than another month of training - it hasn't gone unnoticed that that would be the magic 30!

Well done! Getting faster as you go along is called negative splits. I tend to do that too. It’s a good thing.

Fast is a relative thing. Don’t worry about fast. What is truly amazing about that run is it’s against you and reasonably close together... and you knocked nearly 25% off your time! That’s beyond amazing... that’s ridiculously good. The downhill doesn’t make that big a difference in my experience... yes it’s quicker, but nowhere near that much. Brilliant job.

The rate of time improvement will slow as you have said... but you’re well on track to hit your goal, and it doesn’t really matter when. Congratulations on an excellent PB PB!
