I assume you are running the parkrun course today, that's good practice /training for you.
I have finally made my mind regarding gait analysis, next Monday I am going to get an appointment for a gait analysis next Wednesday, I will buy the shoes they recommend and buy shoes to match..
Yes Alan Iβm running the course today which is definitely good training. Yes a gait analysis is a great idea if you have runners need near you I highly recommend them and the one I went to went online to get the best price and price matched so I got brooks ghost 11 for Β£96 instead of the shop price which was Β£120 so definitely worth going there also if you donβt go there get your gait analysis and buy the trainers online because you can get deals online but not on the Brooks ghost 11 I didnβt find many offers for that one but other brands you can get good offers π but Alan I do highly recommend the brooks ghost 11 and the brooks revel 2 were comfy but ghost 11 just that much better but saying that the Brooks revel 2 were at Β£65.00 when I went to runners need happy running and shopping π letβs me know what you get mate πππ
Thanks for the advice Kev the shop in Glasgow which has excellent reviews is "Run4it", the nearest 'Runners Need' to me is Inverness so I'll go to Run4It.
What I plan to do is the week before I run my first parkrun is to run the course on a Friday, 9 days before, not the immediate Friday before, I am even thinking of spectating on the Saturday before, not sure if I should do that!?!, anyway, by the time I do the parkrun I will have a running belt, proper running shoes and cap π§’
Running the course beforehand is a great idea - I did the same and felt much better about going on Parkrun day. Spectating as well would probably make you feel much happier about going. My local Parkrun has such a friendly atmosphere. I'm sure you would feel very motivated by it! Happy Parkrunning!
Thank you yes I feel great and like you say the atmosphere and the people make parkrun what it is a fantastic community happy running π
Youβre going to smash it and love it and youβre welcome for the advice π Iβm looking forward to parkrun on Saturday now as I know weβre I need to improve and thatβs on the hilly bits so Iβm going to work on that and hopefully get there π as I donβt Quit at nothing as if someone tells me I canβt I go and prove them wrong a good attitude to have I think π
It is a good attitude to have Kev, I suppose after I show them my barcode before the run, the officials may ask me what time I hope to run it in and put me among others of around that similar time which in my case would be around 35 minutes, however, I may say 40 minutes as it is my first parkrun and I can take it a little easy for at least 4 kilometres and perhaps quicken the pace on the last kilometer.
You only show them that after you go past the person with the stop watch then you get a chip they scan your barcode then the chip and you hand the chip back and all times are online for your parkrun and they text u and send you a email with your official time and itβs got all information like what position you come in your age group etc itβs great enjoy it when you are ready π
i have done a couple of `freedom pr`s but nowhere near my official time.
i find i get pulled along by the occasion on a saturday morning
saying that, i think it is a good thing to do as if i struggle at pr i say to myself `come on,you can do this`
Yes I totally agree with you and I got done by some OAP π but I noticed what they did stayed back then lap 2 took me and beat me so this week Iβm going to run with them and not try and get in front of everyone thatβs what I did wrong π
Last week I had a granny in my sights.I stuck with her as she seemed the same pace as me.I overtook her near the end.I thought I done a pb but I was 1.5 slower.hindsight tells me I should have picked her off then chosen another runner to aim for. (P's, I'm a granny too lol )
π thatβs funny Iβve just ran the course at the park and I paced myself better and listened to my music and I beat my time so itβs a win win Iβm going to play it smarter on Saturday my first run I was trying to over take everyone not a good move so lesson learnt π
Definitely a good lesson learned. I've fallen foul of the too-fast start and then completely run out of steam before the end.
good stuff kev, you've got all the gear now, new shoes and headphones
Good idea, a practice run of the course for Saturday's park run, now why didn't I think of that!
Good luck with park run Saturday and a new pb.
Wow, you are busy, busy, busy! That's great that you have a plan. I am doing my graduation run on Friday and i really need to figure out a plan for after before i lose my way! Sounds like you are on top of it. Enjoy your park run.
Well done to you itβs a great feeling when you graduate π just around the corner and you can see the finish line. And yes you need a plan to carry on to what youβre doing next itβs going to help you so much to carry on to the next part of your journey you should be very proud of yourself π
