Well, after completing Parkrun last Saturday I was on a mega high.... then on Tuesday eve I went for a consolation run. Big mistake... I had had a deep tissue hot stone massage in the morning. I really struggled and was very disheartened & disappointed with myself.
The next couple of days I ached like hell.
This morning I dragged myself out of bed, told myself If i struggled today then maybe I should have a rest.
Anyway my mojo is Back! I did a 30 min run non stop covered 2.25 miles and feel fantastic & saw a beautiful sunrise.
The moral of the story here is
1) don’t run on the same day as having a massage.
2) don’t give up.. you can do it!
Has anyone else struggled with consolidation runs?

What I've found with running is just go with flow. You won't hit every run right. Alot depends on how you slept, how much water you drank, is your brain over thinking it. I've got up many a morning and mid run think why did I bother. On the other side I look at it as they're the important ones to finish.
I’ve had a few struggles, thanks largely to the Black Dog of depression. I managed my fourth 30 minute run since graduation yesterday and it is gradually getting a little easier (I bet I regret saying that next time I’m out 😂) Massage on a run day sounds a great idea - just do the run first next time !
Took me about 6 weeks before the 30 minute run became comfortable. Only after then did I start adding more duration to one run. After graduation I redid the graduation run again and again - I needed the timings and encouragement. Then I got a multi timer app (I can create my own run lengths with alerts) and started listening to podcasts (not exercise ones) and whether it was concentrating on something else, or just time - the running became not just easier, but very enjoyable (I’m a slow runner - Japanese slow jogging technique). Good luck!
