So I headed out this afternoon for W7R1 and took a route that I haven’t taken for a few weeks as it takes me all round the back of my local golf course and is beautiful on a sunny day! So beautiful infact I got a little too distracted and as the surface is quite uneven I fell over and went over on my left ankle. Ouch!! It really hurt! I sat for a few mins to see how I felt but then decided to get up and walk for abit and eventually I felt able to run on it again and I managed to finish the last 5 mins of my run.
So the reason for my post is that I am supposed to be doing a 5k charity bubble run on Sunday and so I’m looking for advice on how best to help my ankle recover over the next few days so that I am able to run on Sunday? Should I attempt another run later in the week to see how it is? I have put some ice on it but not sure what else to do. It doesn’t feel too bad but I don’t want to make it worse.
Thanks from a lady who feels abit of a wally! 🤣🤣

O dear, sorry about that fall, so the "bubble" 5k is on Sunday, try and run 1K on Friday and see how it goes, if not you could still 🚶walk that bubble 5k charity run. 🏃
Check it for swelling, if there is any around the ankle (compare to the other as may be subtle) then rice regime for next day or so then start walking and build up to a gentle jog to test it out towards the end of the week. Also make sure you have full movement like the good side. Any pain or sense of instability then you should stop/slow it down. Good luck, if you managed to walk on it today then hopefully it’s just a mild sprain and won’t hold you back!
Thanks all for the tips! Very helpful. The pain seems to have subsided but there is still some mild swelling around my ankle. I shall continue the rice regime for another day or two and maybe go for a walk/gentle jog on Friday to test it out! Fingers crossed I’ll be able to have a gentle jog around the Bubble Run rather than hobbling around. Xxx
