Well done.

If you think it's not correct, don't worry, there will be days where you struggle. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Great stuff. Then you have a good gear now. Are the trainers the first pieces of your gear 'park'?

Yup. Onwards and upwards

Wow. Nothing can stop you. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ˜‚

You are half way through the program.

Absolutely it's correct. And don't worry - if you've done all the runs up to this point then you are ready for this!

The key is to take it slowly... start off so it feels slow and then slow down even more.

This run is an amazing turning point in the programme and is the most wonderful boost to your confidence once completed. You've got this! :)

Youโ€™ve done the hard work already. This will make sense when you do it. Have faith in the course, which is brilliantly designed to build stamina and which wonโ€™t let you down.

Ive just finished run 1 on wk 4 and made the mistake of looking at wk 5 dreading it

Take it easy. Youโ€™ll be fine. I worried. Unnecessarily. ๐Ÿ‘

I was told yesterday not to dread it but think of it as fabulous week 5, when all of our efforts so far start to bear fruit. Now i look at it that way i am kind of excited to see if i can do it! X

Elisabeth3 profile image
Elisabeth3Graduate in reply to

Don't dread it. If you can't manage, you can always repeat it.

It's cool otherwise, the 20 mins will not seem long. Just don't exhaust yourself too early.

I was surprised too, but after my 5 minute warm up a glitch occurred and Sarah Milligan congratulated me on completing week 1 and 2 , and then started explaining week 3!

I didn't want to go back to 3 , so I went on to session 1 of week 6.

Looeylooders profile image
LooeyloodersGraduate in reply to Cadici

This happened to me too ! There must be a bug in the app. I was determined to run the 20mins though so I did it without Sarahโ€™s encouragement and used my phone timer instead. Felt extra proud of myself having done I!

notquiteretired profile image
notquiteretiredGraduate in reply to Looeylooders

I think week5 run 3 theres a problem if you use sarah millican as coach, if you swop coach for that run it works

Cadici profile image
Cadici in reply to notquiteretired

I didn't think of that ๐Ÿ˜ฃ I had done my 5 minute walk up when I realised and thought the only way is forward . Thank you .

Cadici profile image
Cadici in reply to Looeylooders

I wish I had done as you did, might not have been such a shock to run 25 ! Ta.

Elisabeth3 profile image

Nice achievement. I like that you timed yourself. Could you later on add this run to the program?

notquiteretired profile image
notquiteretiredGraduate in reply to Cadici

if you use sarah millican week5 run 3 theres often a problem, if you swop coach for it then it works fine, or you can just set a timer for 20mins run and do your 5 mins walk bfore and after. Did you manage your 20 minutes run before skipping to week 6 as its an important run in the plan and prepares you for the coming weeks ๐Ÿค”

Cadici profile image
Cadici in reply to notquiteretired

I did the 20 minute run but with the 3 minute walking break in between. Thank you.

Good luck ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iโ€™ve just done W4R1 and thought that was an achievement. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Elisabeth3 profile image

Of course it is an achievement. Every run is.

But you can only be at 1 point in the program. (Unless you repeat, etc.)

Wow. Who knew that on a โ€œcouch to running for 30 minutesโ€ program, at some point youโ€™d have to run for 20 minutes??? ๐Ÿคซ

Yes it right please just trust the program it really does work I didnโ€™t think I could do it week 1 I was counting the 60sec to finish now I can run over 30mins and now I do 5k parkrun so If I can do it you definitely can this is the only thing that works enjoy your running ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was really worried about it too! The thought of it is much worse than the run itself. Just go slow and you'll smash it.

I felt the same when I first saw it but then i realised the run before you do 16 mins (8x2) with a walking break. I found I was telling myself I couldnโ€™t do it but then found I could. U will surprise yourself!

If youโ€™re listening to Sarah millican though thereโ€™s an error and she repeats week 3!

I thought heck wonโ€™t be able to do that but I did it yesterday and sailed through it so trust yourself and the previous training youโ€™ve done and I bet you surprise yourself ..I know I did

As everyone has said, trust the programme, take it as slowly as you need to (itโ€™s your journey) and you will be pleasantly surprised - could you listen to some music? Might help you if your โ€˜worriedโ€™? Youโ€™ll be surprised how quickly the 20mins go with no music and youโ€™ll end up thinking โ€œIs that it? Have I really completed 20mins?โ€ and other similar questions ๐Ÿค— x

Have Faith in your ability, you can do it !!.

Haha ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I felt exactly the same, thought it was a mistake and I kept looking at it thinking it would somehow change ๐Ÿ™„

But youโ€™re ready for it, youโ€™ll do it, youโ€™ll feel epic and be well on your way to graduation ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช

Knackeredbag profile image

I was also confused and rather horrified and thought it was a mistake but itโ€™s not. Itโ€™s amazing because you absolutely will be able to do it!!! I was sure there was no way I could. It feels so brilliant when you have done it!

MeetaPatelHove profile image

It's definitely right, I've just completed it and if you've been OK with the previous runs you'll be able to do it. I felt so great afterwards. My family are bored of me telling them what I achieved. You can do it!

Zakeil profile image
Zakeil

Woohoo. DONE IT!! 5/3 I ran for twenty minutes and the strangest thing - I could have kept on going and was barely out of breath when I finished. I am 67 and incredibly proud of myself. I peeked at 6/1, saw it was a "split" run and thought easy peasy. A bit different to week 1/1 when I really didn't believe I could do it.

What a feeling. Now I have to do the ironing.... ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿคช๐Ÿคช

Don't panic it seems like a long time but you've been building for this and you will be ready physically you just have to get yourself ready mentally. You WILL do this.

Knittinggran profile image

I felt exactly the same, but the thought was much worse than doing it and I felt so elated afterwards. Listening to music while running doesn't work for me, but podcasts do. I get so absorbed that the time flies. Good luck, take it slowly and you'll be fine.

grumpyoldgirl profile image

Yes it is 20 minutes, yes you can! Yes. You. Can. Don't worry, don't overthink it, just do it ๐Ÿ˜Š Take as many ๐ŸŒ with you as you need.

Did w4 r1 yesterday, was really worried about it, it went quite well, so I suppose I might be able to extrapolate that w5 r1 will be just as doable when the time comes. But youโ€™re right - it looks scary!

Newrunner75 profile image
Newrunner75Graduate

As all have said above, the programme works, you can do this. My advice would be plan for your longer route, maybe try a new route? Think about what you are listening to as well. I find I run better with podcasts, but beware comedy ones, when I laugh my legs go to jelly!

It certainly is! Don't worry - you've found your pace by now and although it won't feel easy, you'll feel amazing once you've done it! And if you do find it's too much at this stage, just go back and repeat the run before until you feel ready.

I'm doing that run tomorrow. It's a jump from 2x 8 mins run with a 5 min walk in between. I'm looking forwards to it as after my first 8 mins run I felt I could of just carried on running. Good luck with your next run.
