Completed the 3rd run of W4 this morning! Still getting leg discomfort despite drinking nearly 4 litres of water yesterday. I'll keep the water intake up in case it takes time to see the effects of good hydration?
I really enjoyed this run (always do enjoy the last one of the week) and felt that I could have carried on running at the end of the last 5 min run. I did an extra 30 seconds before I thought I should stick with the program, although I really think I could have added another couple of mins. Is it OK to add a bit at the end if you can?
Hope all those those running today have a good one!
Cheers Phil

Well done you! Onwards and upwards into Week 5! And just stick to the programme, no need to risk injury by adding on extra running time. Be a shame to end up on the Injury Couch when you're doing so well!
It is but 4l throughout a day is not a big deal. I can get through 6l when it's hot and I usually do 3l on an average day and I'm pretty small. Unless it's all going in in one hit there's no issue. 👍
It's great you're feeling you've got more left but part of the programme is learning to do as you're told. Trust me, I struggled with that aspect too! Very soon you'll be on the longer runs, be patient 👍😉
Try some self massage of your legs. It's a lot if adjustment for your muscles. Keeping good hydration is just part of it. Do extra stetching on your off days too. 👍
I had the same pains Phil and I was well hydrated. It's a lot better now but I'm still pushing myself so they're still tired/sore. I'm saying this because I don't think you're doing anything wrong, it's just your body getting used to the new lifestyle/workload. W4 was my hardest week, I found it very difficult so you're doing great.
As for doing extra, it's coming my friend, it's coming. Trust the plan, it really isn't worth risking an injury, especially if your legs are already hurting.
Thanks for the advice. Glad I stopped running at the end now lol. I do a bit of walking on my non run days, I've got a foam roller that I use and I do stretches too. The trainer at my gym thinks my left calf is hurting because I am using stabity running shoes (after a gait analysis). He said it could be because I am now running with my foot in the correct position and I'm just simply getting used to that. It makes sense so hopefully it will ease... Soon please! Lol
