Went out for my dogless long run early on- whatever day of the week it was... um... Tuesday (must have been Tuesday because I then went out to meet my daughter, the grandsprocket, and my friend for a dog walk). Yes, this is honestly how I figure out what day it is some weeks 😜

It was briefly interrupted by a cow on the path who I deemed it wisest to walk past as she seemed upset about being separated from the rest of the herd, who were looking at her like she making a fuss over nothing. Poor girl.

I will admit to feeling both

a) frustrated, because I’d worked up the courage to try for a fast (for me) downhill

&

b) really relieved I had no dogs with me, or I would probably have been setting some sort of land speed record!

when it happened. But it didn’t stop me enjoying the rest of the run.

Having had to adjust my route soon after I set off - because I realised the path beyond the local stables would be flooded, only after I was heading that way - I ended up running home past houses. So weird. I hardly ever run on the pavement.

6.9k in 56m 40s, which I am perfectly happy about.

Well now, all in all I think you get a medal for perseverance. 👏🏼 Cows on the far side of the fence are fine - part of my usual running track at the moment. But a cross cow on the path? 😱 Not a good thing! And death to a speedy run, except in the other direction.

At least the sun appears to be shining. More than can be said for the south Hampshire monsoon season. 😊

In deepest Sussex we had one random dry and sunny day. And rain like everyone else the rest of the time. Wednesday even my waterproofs gave up and I came home soaked.

Ah yes, know that sort of day. Had one on Monday. 😄

Great run, great time and distance.

I don't think my dogs have met a cow yet : )

Thanks 😊

Merlin is very prey driven, if we’re Canicrossing he’s better than on a normal dog walking lead, but I think a cow on the path would definitely have been too much for him.

I hear you...mine are horribly prey driven (ex racing greyhounds, their training is based on enhancing their prey drive). They don't hear me at all when they are in hunting mode : (

It’s not like that now. It was just a freak sunny day.

Just got to get the grandsprocket into bed then head out for today’s run, which will be very windy if not wet.

(My husband will be here, I am not leaving a child alone in the house.)

I’d probably have tried to get the cow back into the field! 😁

No gate. It must have busted through a bit of loose fencing.

Poor thing must have been very worried. 😔

It sounded worried, which is why I steered clear (no pun intended)

My nightmare! I’m constantly dodging cattle as I select my running routes.

When I take the dogs, I’m constantly dodging anything that moves.

The other day - out with fellow Canicrossers - it was very apparent that deer had been around, even though we didn’t see any. 😳
