Running is a high impact excersise, the muscles, particularly for us new runners need at least 48 hours to recover from the runs, the number one rule is not to run on consecutive days hence the non running days are essential.

Thank you , make a lot of sense. Are there any other activities that can be done on the non running days ??

Plenty, you can go walks 🚶, do 🧘‍♂️ yoga, planks, sit ups 🙃 , push ups, cycle 🚴 and some of the exercises you learned at school. 😊

As AlMorr has said, she you run, unlike low or non impact exercise, you create microtears in your muscles which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running. Without rest, repair and strengthening are compromised and injury risk consequently increased.

To be the best runner you can be do non impact cross training on your non run days. That will be more effective than running on consecutive days.

There is more information on this in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
