graduation day!!

not quite sure how i got to this point, but ive made it. finally finished my 3rd 30 min run of the week. its been a strange ol week for one reason and another and didnt think i had my mojo in me to complete this 3rd run. and for some reason i was also nervous about doing this final run. its not like i hadnt completed the previous two 30 min runs already but may be it was just the emotion of what has been achieved. im 52 and over 10 weeks ago i hadnt run for over 35 years and really didnt think i had it in me to do this. but this amazing app and Laura to motivate and drive me forward made this a great introduction to running.

so now ive graduated, whats next? do most of you on here just carry on doing regular 30 minute runs every other day or is there a next step. can anyone recommend what i should download as a running app to push me forward past the 5k and for longer runs?

to those of you who are still on couch25k, keep focused and believing and know you can do this, you really can

Congrats, don't forget to ask for your badge. You must be well chuffed especially as you weren't sure about this run.

To get your graduation badge and the word GRADUATE 🎓 next to your username leave a message on the June graduate post in the pinned posts on the right side of the healthunlocked C25K home page and tell the administrators that you have ran W9R3 of C25K and graduated 🎓 🏃 😊

Congratulations 🎊 🥂 🥉 🎓 🏃!!!! It is a huge achievement and not really a finishing line but the beginning of your running - consolidation runs, then think about what you want to do. Longer distances? Longer times? Getting faster? There's loads of possibilities out there. My main aim, as a recent graduate, is simply to keep running three times a week but I'd also like to work on my pace to eventually achieve 5k in 30 minutes.

Very well done Molint. Hope you are feeling smug!

Certainly as Debston says , try to run for 30 minutes three times a week to consolidate whilst you work out what you want to do next. I found that time quite relaxing and after about 4 weeks I had decided to try for 5k without stopping as I hadn’t done it in the programme - I only got up to about 4K in 30 minutes

Once I was comfortable managing 5k, (again, a few weeks of consolidation) I decided to try out parkrun, and now I am also aiming to increase my distance to 10k (so I can get my hands on some bling!).

But all these decisions were not made in a rush, I just felt I wanted to take my time sorting out what I really wanted to do next.

But do keep running!

Congratulations Molint! As to what next? A few weeks consolidation is a good idea - and then it's really up to you. Why not pop over on to the 'Bridge to 10k' and 'Marathon Running and Race Support' forums to see what others have done next?

I have completely fallen in love with running over the last few years and although I like the odd event, nothing beats a weekend solo 10k on the local bridleways and trails for me! It is my happy place! Good luck on the next stage of your running journey . Wherever it takes you - enjoy! 🙂

thank you sandra for your advice and tips. id love to get to 10k and sure its achieveable, although itll be a while before im runnign for an hour. but then i thought running for 5 mins 8 weeks ago was a killer lol!!! so i will check out the bridge to 10k link and see what it has in store for me. im so happy to be running as never thought i had it in me and dont want to stop now that im feeling a routine developing. will keep up with regular 5k runs three times a week to consolidate on my achievemnets thus far. good luck sandra
