Global Running Day and 6 months of running

Yesterday was Global Running day apparently, but it was also 6 months after I decided to actually do something with that C25K app that had been sitting onthe screen of my phone for a couple of years. I remember that “run” so clearly. I had been a regular walker and considered myself relatively fit for fat and over 40!! I managed I think 5 of the 8 run segments, and at times I honestly thought it might kill me. But I repeated it a couple of days later and it was easier. Throughout the program I doubted how I would get through the next week, but with perseverance and the awesome support of my family and my virtual friends on here I made it through the plan.

Since graduation I have been running 5k at least twice a week, and increasing that distance too. Next week I am running a 5 mile race with my sister - something that neither of us would have dreamed of doing a few years ago.

Sometimes it is hard, sometimes the runs seem tough for no reason, sometimes life gets in the way, but other times, like this global running day, it actually feels good 😎

Thank you for sharing. My next run is W9R2 so I’m thinking about what happens after I graduate. So many questions??? How long do I do consolidation runs for? What is juju’s plan that I keep reading about and where do I find it? When/how do I start upping my distance? ..... Hopefully the posts from more experienced forum members are going to help answer a few things. Thank you ☺️

You'll find JuJus plan in the Bridge to 10k forum. As for what to do after graduation, just go with the flow and find your thing.

Work permitting I try to run three times a week; a shorter 20 min run, a parkrun on a Saturday, and a longer run (slowly building up to an hour). I also mix things up by occasionally swapping my shorter run for one of the early runs from the program so I can see how much easier it is now.

The thing is just to do what feels right for you and what you enjoy doing. Pretty sure I'll never run a half/full marathon, but I can just enjoy doing whatever I decide to do.

Hi! Good thanks. I did the 5 mile last weekend and have had a slightly sore calf since so lots of cycling and no running this week. Going to try ParkRun tomorrow and see how it feels. I’ve signed up for a 10k at the beginning of August so need to get training but also need to not be injured.
