Two things happened last week, I pledged 5k in jaojao's run and my youngest told me he would do the junior park run in August (2k) when we are in the UK.
With that in mind I thought I would use one of my consolidation runs to just run a better 2k and then slow it down to finish off my 30 mins.
I started out at a whole 7kph (not breaking any land speed records but my normal 30 min speed is around 6.5kph. I managed to run the whole 2k at that speed (which is a first for me) then I ran at 6.8kph for another 5 mins and slowed down to 6.5kph for thr last 15 mins. I had enough in the tank to do a brisk walk at 6kph to finish the 5k so I know that on Wednesday I can do my 5k I pledged.
It's a small achievement I know but given last weeks difficult runs I am very happy.
Thanks for all the support

I hope to get out and about as soon as the pollen dies down. I "only" sneezed 33 times today while walking the dogs.
I know the treadmill is less realistic but at the moment it's that or nothing. The antihistamines are keeping my asthma at bay but they don't cut it when I have to breathe in big lungfulls of pollen ridden air while running. : )
I should manage by the end of June to start running outside *fingers crossed*. How is your consolidation going ?
Ah, I see. I envy you doing that. I went out today in the sun and it was way too hot. I posted about it but it’s already submerged down the pages somewhere.
Will you be able to run with the dogs when the pollen allows it?
Unfortunately my female dog had a stroke back in January so at the moment the walks are about her physical therapy. She is doing so much better but still lacking some strength in her hind legs. She is still very slow up hills. She inspires me though, she's gone from not walking or even standing in January to running down hills and playing. She just doesn't stop trying.
My big male is a sprinter so he will run about 2 mins and spend the rest of the day on the sofa recovering (both are retired greyhounds). He has the couch part of the couch to 5k completely covered !
I am so sorry to hear about this. My cat had a stroke about a year and a half ago. It just breaks your heart, doesn’t it? Luckily she made a good recovery and is still enjoying life to the full all these months later.
I can totally believe those dogs are an inspiration.
Thank you...I'm used to seasonal asthma. Mine is limited to 2-3 months a year, I truly feel for people that have it all year round.
Dog will be fine, it's just working on her strength and coordination. The hard part is *fingers crossed* over when I had to carry her everywhere and turn her over every 2 hours during the night for her circulation. But seeing her determined to carry on is a good motivation for when I want to stop during a run lol
