Shin splints can be anything from not warming up enough to your trainers not giving you the right support.
Have you thought about popping along to a proper running shop and have gait analysis done? This will tell you what type of support you need.

I was suffering these, in my left far worse too. I found that making sure I warmed up properly helped, good trainers, and afterwards, lots of stretching of both calf stretches and pulling my toes up behind my bum.
This really really helped along with a good walk after a run too .
I think mine have improved Gradually over time as my legs have grown stronger each week.

I put ice packs on both legs and thats made a big difference. Im Defo stretching a lot more before and after from now on
