So I woke up early this morning and decided to squeeze in a run before I head off to a wedding. For me it was W5R3!!! Eek! Whilst getting ready I thought I’ll just repeat W5R2 as I went out with my 7 year old daughter for that run and thought it might not have counted but then I realised no it did count and come just give the big run a go! So off I went and I’ve only gone and done it! Woooo hooooo! I’m elated and so proud of myself. When I started I could barely manage the running for a minute and now I just run for 20 mins straight!!! Amazing! This plan really works and is so good for your mental health too! Thanks for all the support provided here, I generally sit quietly on the sidelines reading the posts for motivation but I wanted to share the love and hope I spur someone else on in the way you guys have me! I’m now off to get ready for a wedding. I’ll probably be asleep by the dance floor by 7pm as I’ll be knackered! 🤣🤣

Amazing! It really is the best feeling and the moment you feel like a runner!

Enjoy your achievement and have a great day at the wedding. I think you have earned an extra slice of cake!

Fantastic, well done you! Enjoy the wedding and feel very proud of yourself, even if you do fall asleep on the dance floor!

I feel very worried about w5r3; and I keep putting off and repeating run 2 because that’s even quite hard. I think I just need to bite the bullet and get in with it and see how it goes. Please don’t tell me to slow down, I don’t think I can actually go slower without walking! Any other tips?

Hi Thismumcan, honestly I’m not sure I have that many tips but I would say just go for it. I’m not going to lie, it’s not easy but just pace yourself really well. Honestly go as slow as you can ( sorry I said it 😬). I’m slow too so don’t worry you are still running which is brilliant! Turn your music up or podcast up and try and focus on that. I found that I went through phases in the run and my subsequent runs where I really got in to my stride and felt good but then would struggle for a few minutes but out of sheer determination I pushed on and did it! I always find the last 60s really hard though so have to focus then.

I can assure you that your sense of pride and achievement when you do it will make the whole thing worthwhile!

Give it a shot! We are all rooting for you!

I’m on the bench at the moment as I tripped and fell on my last run and sprained my ankle. More bruised pride than anything but I’m really missing my runs! Good luck and let us know how you get on xx

Thanks Charlye. Hope your ankle gets well soon Good news is I did it!!!! RAN 20 MINUTES!!!😀. Note to self: take tissues, I had to call my daughter on my cool down walk to tell her and was almost crying (with pride!?) Week 6 looks easy now. Bring it on! Keep going everyone. X
