Did it (posting here is keeping me honest). Again not pretty, but it got done.
Why does consolidation (which for me is W9 again) feel harder than week 9? It's a mystery to me.
I hate my new shoes - I think most of that is that they're not old and comfy like my old shoes, but they are also thinner underneath.
This didn't show up while I was jogging around Decathlon trying shoes out, nor while I was walking the dogs to break them in, but today while running on my treadmill I could feel every roller underneath the conveyer belt thingy (I'm sure there's a proper term but for the life of me I can't remember it).
I ran my 30 mins consolidation, at a slightly faster pace (and I do mean slightly, from 6.1km/h to 6.3 km/h lol) but I felt uncomfortable. Nothing hurt though so I'm taking that as a good sign, and I'm sure I'll get used to them.
Anyway onwards and onwards (not sure upwards is on the cards at the moment lol).

Perhaps because after finishing the course the immediate sense of achievement can’t continue in the same way. Not sure. But you need to have shoes you are comfortable in. Anything that’s a negative distraction makes it harder. For example, when my earphones broke in one ear I found running harder for no real reason other than it was annoying.
I was thinking about it and I think it's because I don't have a "plan" at the moment. I know I need structure when trying something new. Running is already out of my comfort zone so I'm not ready to let go of the nice c25k frame and instructions. I even thought about starting again but going faster this time lol. I used to check the plan to see what was coming next, anticipation, etc. I know consolidation is only a few weeks and I am sticking with it (posting my next run here for example to keep me honest) then I will move to ju-ju's plan on the bridge to 10k. I am rambling, sorry, just feeling aimless.
The shoes, I think I will get used to them. They are just different. My old shoes aren't running shoes, but they were very comfortable to run in. I miss them *sob*
I know what you mean. It’s comforting to have a teacher and clearly established boundaries. I made my own plan and once the aches/pains go will follow this: healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Hoping that there will be a sense of freedom in this (my rules/my choice) but also enough structure to keep it motivating and realistically achievable.
Hope you can get used to the shoes. Shoes are important!
What a shame your not loving your new shoes, hopefully they will get to being like your comfy slippers....but if really awful could you take them back ?
Lots on here feel in “limbo” after completing C25K but I found the Nike Running Club app and listened to the guided runs with Coach Bennett. I couldn’t be without him now - he does waffle in your ear quite a bit so maybe not your thing but some great runs to motivate you along the way 🎧
