Hi im Debbie a 58 year old and new to running. But I'm enjoying my couch to 5k training ive just finished my fourth week and find myself running further than the app suggests πŸ˜πŸ‘ my timing is 1k every 10 minutes, so not too bad for a beginner.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

If you want to be the best runner you can be, then stick to the plan and do non impact cross training on your rest days. Doing too much too soon is a sadly common theme on this forum.

Take care and enjoy your journey.

Well done for getting started and sticking with it. You're almost halfway through and well on your way to being able to run 30 minutes regularly, yay! Not sure why you are running further than the app suggests?

It's great that you are enjoying it BUT if you add extra on then you are increasing your risk of injury and it would be such a shame to be stuck on the Injury Couch when you're doing so well! There is plenty of time for increasing your runs after graduation in just a few more weeks.

Ok thanks, think I'll stick to the normal app time. Don't want to overdo it and injury myself then ill miss doing it at all.

Welcome to the forum! It’s great that you are enjoying running and that you are keen to run further, but I also agree that you should keep to the run durations in the plan. It is designed to build you up to running continuously for 30 minutes. The fact that you feel you can go further on your current runs is great, as that will stand you in good stead for your first continuous 20 min run at W5R3. After that there are only two more walk/run interval sessions and then every run is continuous until graduation. If you can, I’d suggest holding back your super energy filled legs for now and let them loose to enjoy those longer runs!

Happy running πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ 😊
