Oh my goodness, run 1 was loads harder than I thought it would be, b good job I had Sarah Millican keeping me going. Proud of myself for keeping going as more unfit than I thought. Run 2 will be a challenge now I know what is ahead 🤨

Congratulations on taking that first step!

That was the run I found hardest too. The best advice I was given was to slow down and my goodness what a difference that made!

Stick with it, ypu will find so much support on this forum. Post all your runs good or bad and everyone will be there to lift your spirits when things are hard and to celebrate every little achievement with you.

Good luckon your journey 😁

Great job doing the hardest run. You don’t mention near death experiences, that run tried to kill me 8 times! Now I can run for an hour... and you will be able to as well. That pushing to the end when it got tough first time out tells me so. Enjoy your journey

Run 1 I think was the hardest. I didn’t realise how unfit I was until I did that run, it was quite a shock 😆

I’ve just done W5R3 and following the programme religiously works!

Good luck and keep it up. X

Run 2 won't be a challenge :) you've done the hardest bit by starting. You can go into run 2 with the confidence that you've done this before and survived so you can repeat that success 😊

If you haven't already, read the pinned post for newbies it's full of really useful stuff. The best tip is go slow and slow some more if you are struggling

Very best of luck with the rest of the program 👍👍

My entire body went into some kind of traumatic shock after the first run! I must admit I doubted I was gonna repeat it..... but I have just finished week 1 n done that run 3 times.... I am actually interested to see how I do stepping up a bit on the next run. Stick with it n be proud of yrself for getting that first 1 done ☺

I’m with you. Did my first one tonight too. Just about managed all runs by pushing hard. Next thing is going to be getting back out :( x

Well done you on getting through the hard bit - getting started! Like you, I thought I would not manage 60 seconds and I am now on week three....if this unfit oldie can do it, anyone can! Enjoy!

hello Miffy2107, well done from a fellow would be runner. I felt awful doing the first run, struggled for 60 seconds run and I think it shocked me knowing how unfit I must be but it felt I had taken some control by getting up and doing something to change all that. I started looking at comments on here and following other runners as you pick up loads of tips but also its comforting to see other people have the same doubts etc but manage to overcome them. Others told me to keep it slow🐢 and drink plenty. Theres a video Japanese slow jogging you can look up online too that several more senior runners posted about here which they found helpful😊👍

No Miffy No

Run 2 will be easier because you have done run 1

You won’t be doing anything that you haven’t already accomplished so you will find it easier

You will feel daunted by bigger runs but just remember there is a pudgy old bird that started this plan a few weeks ago and she hadn’t run for 35 years.....in fact a flight of stairs was too much to walk up........I felt like I’m never going to be able to run 3 minutes now I can run 5 minutes at a time and I can damn well run up those stairs.

Crack on little rabbit.

Well done on getting out there and started. Run 2 wont be as hard as you know you can do it!

I was like you and was shocked how hard I found it. Each week with the upgrades I was convinced i wiukdnt be able to do it,but I've just done wk9 run1.

The plan really does work if you stick with it.

Good luck and let us know how you get on :-)

Congratulations on actually starting this program I would agree with others who advise running slowly- you can always speed up in later runs if you really want to it’s just about keeping going. This program does work if you stick to it I too was very unfit having done no regular exercise in over 10 years and because I didn’t find 1 min easy remember really worrying about the run length increasing but now on week 8 can now run 28 minutes- I’m certain you will too if you just stick to it. Good luck!

Well done. That is the difficult bit done. I too struggled with Week 1 back in March. Did it twice in fact. Did 5K Park run yesterday, May 18th. This plan really works. SLOWLY!

Do read Iannoda Truffes post to you again.

Do watch Japanese Slow Running Man on YouTube. Copy him!

Do enjoy what you are doing here. That may take a week or two to kick in.

I was like that when I started this program now my run today on the app is W7R1 now that’s a 25min run and I’ve not run since 1 week ago because of a dreadful cold but I’m continuing on we’re I left off I’m going to go easy put what I’m trying to say is trust this program it really works and it has really helped me get through and the lovely people on this forum have the key is stretch before and after your run and hydrate before running and after this all helped me get to we’re I am now so you can do it if I can you can no such word as can’t that’s what I told myself and it helped me. So well done for getting out the house and getting your trainers on which you have done the hardest thing by committing yourself to this program keep with it because you have people like me on here to help you get through it just like they have for me and trust me people have helped me through it so far and look how far I’ve got and so can you. So welcome to the forum and happy running I’ve got your back on here 😉🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏼‍♂️

Hiya, i did run 2 yesterday and have to say i was absolutely dreading it after run 1, the lovely people on here just kept saying dont go fast, just a really really gentle jog so thats what i did yesterday. It was still hard to complete but my recovery time after was so much quicker, i was really surprised that after a couple of hours it was like i had not done the run at all and today just ache a little, nothing like the last time so i am now very positive about my 3rd run ! Good luck for next time and remember nice and slow...

You'll get there. You've done the hardest part - getting out for that first run. Go slow and repeat runs/weeks if you need to and you'll be there in no time. Good luck!

I had the same! I've just done run 2 and it was not as hard as the first! I waited 3 days between runs as my legs were killing me. Good advice is not to go to quick, go at your own pace and can build up over time.

Hi Miffy2107, sounds like you may need to go slower. I started C25K again yesterday. I did it this time last year and got to WK8 before illness struck; I put 3 stone on in the ensuing months and have just got to the point where I am strong enough to start again, after losing a stone. The first time round I was a slow runner but had just started to really enjoy the feeling running gave me, now with the extra weight I am listening to my body and yesterday ran very slowly, I felt like a snail but I did it and enjoyed it. So maybe try going slower and listen to your body, it doesn't matter if you keep repeating the week until you can do it comfortably, do it on your own terms and enjoy 😊
