I've done week 1 and 2 if week 2.

But, all of my running has been on a treadmill, I hoping to transfer to the pavement hopefully tomorrow or Monday, has anyone else gone this route please?

Yes I started out on the treadmill to and on week 5 I ran outside!!! Loved it and have not looked back. We are way in our caravan this weekend and I’ve even had a run yesterday morning 🥰💕🥰 go for it you won’t look back!

Hi Normskib, I started running on a treadmill - in fact four years ago I trained for a half marathon on one, which in hindsight was a big mistake (the training and the marathon 😂) I was scared to run outside - people would see me and judge me, it was harder and I'd struggle to run! When I started C25K I intended to use the treadmill in our garage - but it had broken - oh no, I thought, I'll just abandon this idea. But then the sun was shining and I thought, I'll give the roads a go ........ and I loved it! Yes, I did find it harder, and it took a while to get over the thought that people were looking at me - they really weren't!!! But now I don't fancy running on a treadmill at all, and I'm a better, if slower, runner for it. My advice is give it a go, and don't worry if it feels like you've gone backwards, just slow down - you'll have actually made great strides forwards! (Pardon the pun!) Good luck x

Each to their own - I love my treadmill and watching the numbers. I find the tarmac hard on my knees - is my excuse?

However, I do intend to complete the final week in the next couple of weeks - then I intend to consolidate and get out there in the sunshine ☀️ even go wild and do a parkrun! I do a lot of walking so do not feel deprived of fresh air.

For you - get out there and enjoy!!!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Be prepared for it to take a couple of runs to get used to the change but you won't regret it.

Enjoy your journey.

I'm on week 5, keen to get outside, but scared stiff. Also worried about my knees - I recently had to take 2 weeks off due to knee pain, but back in the saddle now (maybe that's where I'm going wrong...). If I'm to give it a go outside, I suspect I'll have to get up at 5 so that I avoid bumping into people. Either that or take a long trip to a place where anyone I meet I'll never see again.

Good morning,

I started the programme on the treadmill, at W5R1 I went outdoors and boy what a difference to run with a breeze on your face and taking in the scenery.

If you haven’t had a gait analysis done, then I’d recommend you do and invest in good running shoes as they really do make a massive difference!

Go for it! Xx
